DANot gonna lie, I used to struggle a lot with being perceived publicly, talking to strangers, presenting to crowds, selling etc.
I was very fortunate that my MMA career put me under the spotlight in that I had to do lots of podcast interviews, sell tickets, and obviously, perform in front of hundreds and sometimes thousands of people.
When I used to teach private lessons and work at a UFC Gym and Title Boxing I felt very uncomfortable selling lessons and self promoting, and I think I actually got decent at that until I started running this style consulting business.
But here we are 18 years later, and I’m comfortable talking to strangers, meeting new people, networking, speaking publicly etc. And many people think that I’m very confident because of how I carry myself and love through the world…
But honestly I’m trying to work on the pillar of self-acceptance and to feel comfortable with myself, separate from any skills or achievements that I would use as a crotch to prop up my self esteem.
I’ve come a long way with that and have a long way yet to go, but since I spent a lot of my life with 0/3 pillars, I’m pretty happy with where I am now.
But I must ask: how do you feel about confidence? Do you think it’s something a person just has or something that can be built?

JEFITNESS CLASS REVIEW 🥊 @titleboxing
* Heavy Bag Boxing Fitness Classes *
👉What is it?
These classes tend to include 2 blocks: 3-minute rounds on a heavy boxing bag at varying degrees of power/speed, with active recovery; followed by a block of strength work. Each class includes warm up drills, + cool down & stretching. Each workout also centers around a “Weekly Boxing Focus” which is designed to develop skills over time, & a coach walks around with mitts & a body protector so that you get some 1:1 time during the heavy bag time. The gym also offers a “Kickboxing” class that includes kicking, but I avoided it because of my fancy, new-ish ACL.
👉Trial available?
YES! First class free. If you’re brand new to boxing, they offer a “Intro” class, which will walk you through the combos, structure of class, etc. HOWEVER (caveat): You have to have your own gloves & wraps. They have them for sale, but the gloves ~$30 & wraps are ~$15, so it’s actually ~$45, unless you have gear.
👉Biggest plus:
I love boxing as a workout. I boxed for a while at a traditional club (with a ring, etc) & it kept my anxiety at bay, made me stronger physically, & was a lot of fun. Title Boxing brings together that atmosphere alongside the classic fitness studio structure we love.
👉Who are these classes for?
People looking for a tough, but fair workout. Boxing combines cardio & strength in very unique way, but it’s also completely guided & adapted by you & your capacity that day.
👉Who are they not for?
People that love lifting weights OR those looking to increase their feminine energy. Yes, it’s a safe space to punch something, but, at least for me, it brings out my “masculine” energy, & makes me more bold & aggressive.
👉Would I recommend?
Yes- w/ a caveat. Due to the cost to try, either borrow gloves & wraps, find cheap ones to use for a while, or try out a “fitness boxing” class somewhere (basically air boxing) to make sure you like it before investing in good gear.
NOTE: I’m meeting the owner of this studio with some ideas on how to make it easier for new people. This is not sponsored, I just love boxing, & hope to make this AWESOME workout more accessible for newbies. ❤️🥊
