TECast Iron Pizza in the TempCast! The oven is around 550F which cooks a pizza in 5 to 6 minutes. We do our dough with 00 pizza flour but it's a sourdough instead of yeast which we prefer.
The oven gets up to 700F pretty easily to do a more traditional wood fired oven / 3 minutes or less pizza as well!

Here are our reasons for choosing a masonry heater:
🔥 It produces long-lasting, steady, radiant heat. Unlike other wood stoves, it doesn’t get too hot or too cold when the fire is out.
🔥 It requires minimal attention. You only need 1-2 fires a day to stay comfortably warm. After you build a fire, you lock the door and go about your business or go to sleep, waking up to a wonderfully warm house without needing to check on it, add wood, or stir it.
🔥 It uses minimal wood for maximum heat. The stone slowly heats through from the fire and retains that heat for 12-24 hours, sometimes up to 48 hours.
🔥 It’s got versatile cooking capabilities. You can use the upper chamber for cooking and save on electricity or gas during the colder months. It’s available for various forms of cooking all day long without needing a continuous fire. Think pizza, bread, pot roasts or reheating food.
🔥 It becomes the centrepiece of the home. You can finish the heater in any material you like—brick, river stones, plaster, tile. It’s a beautiful object that brings the family together. It also often has heated benches that are great for cozying up, drying your shoes, clothes, etc.
Now, after we’ve lived in our new home through the entire year, we’re amazed by how warm our house stayed through the Maine winter. I also find it perfect for the in-between seasons, when the days are still too warm for our heated floors, but the nights are already chilly.
