Easy topspin tips 🎾 save for later 💾 To topspin your shots you must get below the ball to have a low to high racquet path to brush the back of the ball, however how you achieve this is critical… ❌ Don’t - twist your wrist to drop the racquet head, this can cause injuries and limits your racquet acceleration and spin potential. ✅ Do - use your legs to get down and keep your strings pointing down as you go into your hit phase leading with your buttcap into contact. This encourages correct racquet head lag into a natural position carrying the momentum for easy power and topspin. Generally speaking, if I want to help you to develop a good forehand, I will describe the ideal motion you should have. Another way to lead tennis players to have good habits is to share the common mistakes that I see, at all levels. This mistake happens on both sides, but I see it way more on the two-handed backhand 👀 When you follow through sideways, leading the motion with the elbow: • Contact becomes inconsistent • Energy leaks to the side - so does the ball • Directional control drops • Spin and variety are harder to produce Focus on extending the arms forward through the ball first to transfer energy forward and clean up your contact 🎯 P.S. don’t mind the crane behind me, just working hard 🏗️😄 • • • #tennis #tennistips #tennistraining #tennistechnique #slavicgirl

“Don’t swing high to low” “Don’t brush up the ball” and “Don’t use your wrist on the forehand” ❌ These are some of the tips I’ve seen lately that need to be discussed. 👉 As we can see here with Federer, when he’s going for heavy topspin, his entire racket head will drop below the point of contact so that he’s able to brush up during his strike zone. 👉 And a huge part of this motion is the forearm pronating after contact. At the point of contact, your wrist should be laid back, and after contact, the wrist goes back into a neutral position. ❌ So the wrist isn’t the dominant force. He’s not snapping his wrist, and he’s also not relying on his shoulder joint to lift the racket head. 👉 The forearm pronation is the driving force. You definitely don’t want to be snapping your wrist, and you also don’t want to keep the wrist laid back because then you won’t get as much acceleration whilst putting a lot of stress on your wrist joint. However, the wrist is definitely involved in the action, but it’s a very similar action to that long axis rotation on the serve. 👉 There are two ways to produce topspin in tennis. You can brush over the top of the ball, which will make the ball drop very quickly. But if you do that from the baseline, the ball is going to end up hitting the ground on your side of the court. And then you have the brushing up motion. And if you want to do this at high speeds, you have to have that forearm pronating after contact. #tennis #tennistips #coachsimon

CORRECT SERVE - ELBOW LEAD FIX! 👌 Probably one the most common issues with the serve for amateur and club level players (but also some advanced players) is the inefficient racquet drop and lack of throwing motion. Here I share the problem and the solution: ❌ There is no full racquet drop. Throwing motion is incomplete due to lack of leading up with the elbow. The result is more like pushing motion (rather than swing up) and powerless serve. ✅ Racquet drop is complete, elbow swings away first and then leads up to create proper throwing motion. This results in smooth serve motion with effortless power. 🎾 Useful drill for this is to practice swinging up and hitting the ball with the elbow, let your body learn how to properly swing and lead up with elbow first. You can also practice more regular throwing motion. Tag someone who could use this to improve their serve! 🎾 The secret behind pro-level serve power: The Power Loop ⚡ This concept shows that real serve power doesn’t come from muscling the ball, but from a long, smooth, and connected motion through the body. The Power Loop allows energy to build naturally through proper timing, coil, and fluid acceleration. Key focus points: • 🌀 A longer, flowing service motion • 🕒 Precise timing • 🚀 Increased racket head speed • 🎯 Power with control Professional players use this principle to maximize speed without losing balance or accuracy. In serving, it’s not about force — it’s about efficient movement. Simple 6 steps to the perfect forehand ✅ Click the link in my bio @alexslabs for my new amazing forehand lesson! Follow me for more tennis tips and drills for your game. 1. Shoulder turn - often called the unit turn but I wanted to highlight it’s not your whole body just your shoulders twisting against your hips storing energy in your obliques ready to release into the shot. 2. Adjustment step - this could be a neutral step forward, semi open or open step with your outside foot to get into the perfect position to add rotational power and body weight into your shot. 3. Racquet drop - your backswing should resemble a “C” and it’s important you start to drop the head to have the ability to get below the ball without having to turn your wrist into an uncomdortable position. 4. Wrist lag - lead with your butt cap towards the ball allowing the racquet head to train behind giving you the ability to generate easy racquet head speed into contact. 5. Contact point - meet the ball in front of your body with a firm wrist and leverage created through the racquet lag in the previous step will help you get power and generate topspin. 6. Follow through - finish your stroke up over or around your shoulder, this will help you keep a smooth fluid motion making your shot more effortless and efficient.
