Ok, so these aren’t your typical “cleaning tips.” They’re the principles I use every single day to keep things from piling up, chaos from building, and my mental load from spiraling.
The 4 Rules:
1️⃣ Only Touch Once: Instead of putting something down, put it away. Mail gets dealt with immediately. Boxes get unpacked. Recycling gets broken down. If I touch it, I finish it.
2️⃣ Future Self Rule: If it takes less than 2 minutes, I do it now. Because tomorrow-me won’t want to do it either. That dirty surface I keep walking past? Just wipe it now.
3️⃣ Reset the Room: Before I leave a room, I reset it. Bring dishes with me. Put pillows back. Leave it as it was. Prevents chaos from building all day.
4️⃣ Prep for Tomorrow at Night: This is part of my PM routine. I look at tomorrow’s schedule, set out what I need, and prep for activities. No morning scrambling.

These rules sound simple, but they’re the difference between:

✅ Living in a home that maintains itself
❌ Spending evenings tidying for hours
✅ Spending 15 minutes resetting and being done
❌ Mental load of remembering everything
✅ Systems that run on autopilot
