An easy breezy dress to savour the last few days of summer... 🍓 I’d been wanting to sew another Stevie smock in double gauze for a while now, as I adore my knee-length multicoloured one (see four posts ago), and this time I wanted to make it midi-length for extra Marquee Chic points and swishability. When I saw this amazing gauze with extra large strawberries I knew it was meant to be 🫶 I absolutely LOVE wearing this dress – it’s so soft, cool and comfy – basically the ultimate secret pyjamas! It’s also cute enough to wear out to lunch, yet casual enough for the park and school run 😎 We’ve had a fair few Qs about the Stevie add-on since I mentioned it the other day. An add-on pattern is a printable PDF of extra sewing pattern pieces to turn our sewing patterns into even more variations. The Stevie add-on includes a gathered skirt to turn the top into a knee-length dress (I cut this one a bit longer), as well as much-requested longer sleeves. Introducing Noa… The latest offering from Tilly and the buttons launches today and it’s a belta! Noa is a sleek pinafore dress with princess seams and an edgy exposed zip fastening at the front. You can choose from a round neck or lower V-neck and it comes in mini or knee-length and there is an optional d-ring adjuster if you fancy a little cinch (I’m wearing the mini V-neck option here in our Jacquard Denim in Black). Made for medium to heavy weight woven fabrics - don’t worry, we’ve made a cheat sheet for you! Head on over to our insta page and check out the latest grid post! In true Tilly style, the instructions are wonderful and although aimed at improvers this could be the ‘first zip’ project that adventurous beginner sewists are looking for. We have copies of Noa in the shop and on our website, or if you’re planning to pick up a PDF direct from Team Tilly then remember we can print it for you (a bargain at £1.75 per A0 page).
