CR🚦Big moves for Toowong’s future travel and safety 🚴♀️
Thank you to everyone who took part in community engagement on the Toowong intersection improvements and Sylvan Road bikeway project. Your voices are clearly shaping what comes next.
We heard loud and clear that people want safer crossings, separated bike facilities, and slower traffic speeds. In fact, the overwhelming majority of respondents supported a separated bikeway along Sylvan Road and safer intersection designs to reduce conflicts and improve everyday journeys.
Whether you walk, ride, drive or scoot, this project is about giving our community more options, safer connections, and a better street experience. Council is now reviewing feedback and working towards concept designs, with more details to be shared this year.
This is what happens when a community comes together, real feedback leading to real change. I’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

BRWe’re acting now to secure the Toowong green bridge landing site.
We’ve begun the formal process to acquire the landing site for the future Toowong to West End green bridge.
The project was paused following the devastating February Flood, but we need to act now to purchase the landing site before it’s lost forever.
Our green bridges will change the way people travel around, and I’m confident all levels of government can work together to make future bridges like this one happen even sooner.

LIWelcome to Toowong Central! This is one of the most significant urban renewal projects underway in Brisbane right now - on a well-known site that has dormant for years.
Formerly home to a Woolworths, it is now an eyesore that the people of Brisbane’s inner west desperately want to bring back to life.
Toowong Central will embrace the strong emotional connection locals have with this area by transforming the site into a vibrant, mixed-use precinct with a dynamic community atmosphere that everyone can enjoy.
Consolidating multiple sites bound by Sherwood Road, Jephson Street and High Street, Heart of Toowong will comprise three residential towers, integrated with a retail podium, and office space, with a significant amount of green space dedicated to the public.
Working closely alongside Verso Projects, the team at Kerry Hill architects has reimagined the original six tower proposal with a new slender design featuring fewer towers and more open space – in a conscious effort to give the ground back to the people of Toowong.
New public spaces such as a town square; interconnected, landscaped plazas; and communal dining areas, have been designed to bring people together and enhance quality of life.
Brisbane needs more developments like this that deliver density differently by combining high-rise residential with significant public space that enhances connectivity and fosters community.
And local business owners, long-term residents, young families, and a host of community voices are helping to shape the transformation of this site by having their say.

The Bicentennial Bikeway and pedestrian link through the old ABC site in Toowong is officially open! 🙌
This fresh new connection runs from Coronation Drive, through the Monarch Residences to Archer St, giving riders and walkers an easy alternate route to @uniqld and beyond. 🌿
👷♀️ It’s still an active worksite, so please take care and look out for workers, pedestrians and fellow cyclists. Temporary signs are up, including a 5km/h limit (changing to 10km/h soon!).
🚧 The original footpath and bikeway (600 Coronation Dr to Archer St) are closed during November for essential works.
Whether you’re walking the dog 🐕 going for a spin 🚴 or just exploring Toowong, these new links make getting around our beautiful neighbourhood even easier. 💜
Here’s to smoother rides, enjoying Brisbane’s lifestyle and creating more moments that make us proud to call this place home! 🌇
