What do you do after wearing full glam for 16+ hours when you’ve got very dry, very sensitive, very reactive skin? You take it off. Immediately. OBVS 😆 As much as I loved feeling super glam for my sister’s wedding, my skin and I were absolutely ready to get it off. I’ve lived with eczema my whole life, and since going through Topical Steroid Withdrawal - now managed with Dupixent - you get very tuned in to what your skin does and doesn’t tolerate. You stop experimenting for fun. You do what works. Because that’s all my skin allows. (🙄🫠) I shared this routine on another app and the unsolicited product advice was wild. 😅 I know it usually comes from a good place, but what I’m doing here is what works for my skin right now. So this is my post-full-glam reset: I start with @greenpeopleuk Scent Free Cleanser and gently massage it in. I normally double cleanse, but because of how much makeup I was wearing, I did it three times. It’s incredibly gentle and always leaves my skin feeling soft, not stripped. I remove it with a @silverguard_uk face cloth - 90% organic cotton, 10% ionic+ silver - so they’re super soft and naturally antimicrobial, which my reactive skin really appreciates. I know it looks like I’m being really rough in this video with my skin, but I can assure you I’m not. 😅 Then I let my skin air-dry and finish with a hypochlorous spray. In this video I used the @vitalbabyuk which is definitely one of my OG products and one that I always recommend. Just super handy for being on the go and I love how affordable they are - I get mine from @bootsuk! And yes, I know - no moisturiser. That’s a bit crazy to some people but for me, right after taking off makeup? Not right now. I’ve learned that letting my skin breathe overnight works best for me, and I moisturise the next day instead. No experimenting. No trending products. Just what keeps my skin as calm as possible! ❤️✨ #tsw #topicalsteroidwithdrawal #eczema #sensitiveskin #dryskin

Muistutuksena: TSW, eli topical steroid withdrawal, on kortisonivoiteiden aiheuttama addiktio, ja kun voiteet lopettaa, aiheuttaa se rajua ihottumaa usein ympäri kehoa, myös sinne mihin voiteita ei ole käytetty. Se ei ole atopiaa, eikä se ole sairaus. ❤️ Kaipaan ❤️ - leveästi hymyilyä - vapautuneesti nauramista - huulipunaa - kasvorasvoja - silmäripsiä (jep, ripset lähtenyt toisesta silmästä tän myötä) - piilareita - meikkaamista - ei-kiristävää ihoa - hilseilemätöntä ihoa - pussailua. Neljä kuukautta takana. Niinkuin monella muulla, myös mulla tilanne on pahentunut tässä vaiheessa. Toipuminen ei ole lineaarista, vaan yhden hyvän päivän jälkeen voi tulla monta huonompaa. Mulla TSW oireilee huulissa ja suun ympärillä, sekä silmien ympärillä ja silmäluomissa. Heräsin tällä viikolla pitkästä aikaa silmä turvonneena. Tähän vaikuttaa varmasti se, että viime viikon sairastelun yhteydessä käytin koviin kipuihin kortisonipohjaista lääkettä kolmen päivän ajan. Tein tän ratkaisun silloin tietoisesti, ja nyt se näkyy ja tuntuu. Tää oli eka kerta sitten syyskuun, kun kehoni sai kortisonia. Isoin oppi jonka olen tän myötä tajunnut: omaan ulkonäköön panostaminen ei ole enää asia jonka priorisoin kauheen korkeelle. Toki haluan vielä tulevaisuudessa laittautua, mutta enää en ajattele sen olevan välttämätöntä. On ollut opettavaista, kun on ollut vaan pakko liikkua ihmisten ilmoilla rujon näköisenä. Se on opettanut myös empatiaa muita ihmisiä kohtaan, jotka käyvät läpi näkyvää sairautta tai vaivaa. TSW:n kestoa ei voi tietää tai ennustaa. Jotkut pääsee helpommalla, toiset kulkevat vuosien polun. Tähän ei ole sinänsä hoitokeinoa, mutta näistä asioista olen saanut apua esim kutinaan: - Kolme Cosmeticsin sinkkivoide - Kolme Cosmeticsin puhdas tali - Bion Purifying Mist+, antiseptinen ja rauhoittava hoitosuihke.
