Sri Lanka - I’ve been home a while but keep reminiscing so here’s a bit of footage from the Pekoe Trail, a long distance walking trail that we did some sections of. I would absolutely recommend Sri Lanka to anybody looking for a holiday with great variety, delicious food and lovely people. I travelled with a group and also solo at the end. Both experiences were excellent. I set the location as the railway station as that is where we walked to then took the train to Ella. #pekoetrail #walkwithme #dowildthings

Hiking the Pekoe Trail in Sri Lanka — stage 1 from Hantana to Galaha. 🥾🌿 This long-distance trail takes you through tea plantations, mountain villages and the beautiful hill country of Sri Lanka. Today we completed the first stage of the Pekoe Trail, a stunning hike through the green hills near Hantana and Galaha. After the hike we drove to Watagoda, where we stayed with a very kind local woman who cooked us a delicious meal and gave us a place to sleep. Originally we planned to hike stage 6 next, but we decided to skip ahead and continue with stage 7. Tomorrow we’ll take a rest day in Kotagala — the beauty of traveling without fixed plans. #franciskaexplores #PekoeTrailHike #HantanaGalaha #SriLankaHiking #SriLankaTravel

Stage One of Sri Lanka’s Pekoe Trail is more than a hike. It’s an introduction to the story of Ceylon tea - the hills that shaped an economy, the hands that built an industry, and the communities that still live among these incredible landscapes. I came back to walk this stage with a group of American women experiencing Sri Lanka for the first time. Watching them take in the views, feel their strength, and realize they could do something completely new… that’s the magic. And then we stepped off the trail and into a small shop owned by a local woman. She told us this trail is bringing new life to her business. That tourism dollars are finally reaching the community. That’s the kind of adventure I believe in. Travel that widens us. Travel that supports other women.
