RUGBY PLAYERS LENGTH AND STRENGTH Is commonly thrown around and it’s true we want muscles long and strong. If our muscles are short and not used to full ROM they become more susceptible to soft tissues injuries for example muscle tears. Strength through full range is going to be massively beneficial when wanting to produce force in all kinds of positions which you will need to with the demands of the game. But if we lift slow and long all the time we will become slow, and used to absorbing force like a sponge without the recoil. We need system stiffness to be able to create reactivity and explosive power. How quickly we can produce force and absorb force is massive for rugby. Sharpen the V - the quicker someone can go from absorption to force production the better, Ecc - Concentric! How? Making sure we have the below in our programme 👇🏼 Jumping Throwing Sprinting Hopping Lifting Heavy Sport specific joint angles Get these in your programme to create that system stiffness for explosive reactive power.
