Hope isn’t distant. I saw it this week in trans people showing up, in parents choosing their kids, in advocates doing the work, and in rooms where our voices are finally being heard. At @christopherstreetproject, I helped organize and execute an education forum that reached over 150 people, supported advocacy day meetings with members of Congress, and helped build a rally where trans people and allies showed up loud and united. I’m proud to serve as senior digital strategist and help bring this work to life. That’s what hope looks like right now. Not finished, but real and still unfolding. And it keeps us building toward a future where we are safe, respected, and free. #TransDayOfVisibility #TransRightsAreHumanRights #ProtectTransLives #TransJoy #WeKeepGoing

As a Central Texas theater, we’re proud to tell this story in a way that reflects our community. Where culture, identity, and family intersect in ways that make Connor’s story hit closer to home, and underscore the importance of truly being seen. Our hope is that these conversations continue beyond the rehearsal room and into our community. “I think this brings sympathy to Connor because it’s been years of ignoring their problems, which is why they have grown into this unpredictable, angry person,” said Dom. “There is so much growth in the people around Connor after Connor is already gone, but what can we do before we get to that point? Hey everyone, wanted to come on here to share a message for all of you today on Trans Day of Visibility. First, I wanted to say that we all need to show up for our trans neighbors, parents and trans children right now. In this moment there are countless families that are struggling with the decision on having to leave the U.S. because they don’t feel safe or can’t access healthcare for their children. We need to show these families that their stories are being seen and supported by all of us, and that we’re not going to back down in our commitment to affirming their children’s identities and protect them at all costs. You may have seen how I was involved this month with the amazing new film The Dads, and we’ve been so happy to see the response, and a lot of you asking on how you can support this cause and watch the movie. Visit The Dads Foundation website to learn more about what you can do to support transgender people and the dads who love them. For those of you who have been wanting to see the film, we could definitely use your help. The first thing you can do is watch the short on Netflix. It’s a quick but really powerful watch that will introduce you to the story. Second, you can go to the link in my bio and story to inquire about getting this film in one of your local film festivals. This will help the film’s director, my friend Luchina Fisher to help spread more awareness for the Dads’ stories and help more of you to see the film and share it with your communities. I hope you all will continue to rally around your trans friends and loved ones - and be an ally while so many people all around the country are facing unprecedented challenges. We have to keep fighting to protect our trans children and support their parents and families. Let trans kids be trans adults. Happy trans day of visibility to all of you.
