If there is damage to customer-owned equipment, those repairs need to be made by a licensed electrician before Austin Energy can restore power. Crews will leave behind a door hanger indicating the type of damage. ‼️The Development Services Department is waiving the requirement for electric contractors to pull a permit in advance. Private electricians will need to document repairs and then submit the paperwork as soon as feasible, preferably the next business day. 🗑️Storm Debris: Small branches, yard trimmings, and leaves go in your green composting cart, lawn and leaf bags, or a reusable container. Set them out on your regular composting day. Austin Resource Recovery (ARR) is waiving the usual 15-item limit during storm cleanup. 🪵For larger branches and tree limbs, customers can call 311 to request a collection of down tree limbs due to the severe weather. ARR crews will assess and collect them as soon as possible. Please have the limbs at the curb ready for collection. 🛠️🌳Tree Removal and Emergency Repairs: The City of Austin requires a permit for the removal of any regulated trees, but this permit may be submitted retroactively in cases of storm damage. This permit is free and allows the City to ensure tree preservation requirements were followed and better understand the impact of the damage on Austin’s urban forest.
