IHToday we are celebrating Lisa as she navigates stage 4 metastatic breast cancer with courage, grace, and a holistic mindset. Since 2023, Lisa has received several Holistic Care Grants and an Individual Grant, attended our Florida Mattress & Pink Bag Event, and continues to find strength in blending traditional and holistic therapies.
"I was able to enjoy several alternative therapies alongside my traditional treatment—including acupuncture, reiki, massage, and infrared sauna with red light therapy. These healing experiences brought me so much relief and peace during a really challenging time.

IH🌸 Michelle's Journey with UBCF 🌸
Meet Michelle, a 49-year-old woman who embodies resilience. Michelle reached out to UBCF for support, sharing her story of unexpected challenges and unwavering determination.
Michelle faced a job loss and an invasive cancer diagnosis. Despite enduring multiple procedures & surgeries, she continued job hunting, facing these challenges alone.
Michelle's story highlights the physical, mental, and financial toll of breast cancer.
"The mounting financial burden I face feels like an iceberg when I also need my mental and physical energy to fight the cancer in my body. Any one of the individual challenges I am facing would be hard, but facing them all at the same time has been in some moments crippling."
Despite the challenges, Michelle's determination is unwavering.
"I am committed to remaining strong, resilient, forward facing, confident, expectant, assured and graceful as I take these challenges head on."
Many of our clients reference they have always been strong, and unlikely to ask for support. Often, they come to us when they have realized that they just can't do this alone.
"I am not one to normally ask for help or support, but in this very unique moment of my life, I am in a situation where I have to ask for the help that I need to get to the other side, beat cancer and regain my normal life and activities."
Last month, UBCF eased Michelle's burden by assisting with her car payment and utility bills.
"Thank you so much for your email and for hearing this amazing news! It couldn't have come at a better time. I have been very sad the last two weeks recovering from my double mastectomy - so what bright ray of light it is to receive your positive message today."
Michelle inspires us with her positive attitude and share her story knowing that it helps inspire others too!
"I know all will be well in the end and my story will provide encouragement and inspiration to others - just as other stories have given me courage and inspiration."

UBCF's Network of Giving Program aims to help women, men, and families maintain a sense of normalcy by providing helpful, essential, and uplifting items at no cost. We recognize that breast cancer impacts the entire family, which is why our program also supports children in homes affected by breast cancer.
