US#funfact Since moving to Petaluma in 2022, the Aviation Survival Technician A-School has seen a total of 263 candidates, and at the end of this month, they will graduate their 103rd AST!
After structural challenges were identified in the Rescue Swimmer Training Facility (RSTF) in North Carolina, AST A-School was temporarily suspended until a suitable facility could be identified and stood up. Training Center Petaluma was ultimately the destination chosen to host AST A-School, at least temporarily, until a permanent location is chosen and constructed.
Beginning in the spring of 2022, Training Center Petaluma saw its first AST candidates, with class 01-22, graduating 12 AST’s. Now, approaching 4 years later, they are about to graduate class 02-26 with 8 AST’s, marking their 103rd graduate!
While a permanent location has yet to be announced, Training Center Petaluma will continue to train today’s Rescue Swimmers to meet the highest standards expected of the world’s most professional rescue organization.

USWhat’s it like to be part of a Coast Guard crew that surpassed the record for largest cocaine seizure? We asked Petty Officer Sophia Kopp, an operations specialist aboard USCGC Stone, about making history and why it matters.
Last year, the Coast Guard celebrated Stone after the crew smashed the record for largest cocaine total seized by one cutter during a single patrol. On Nov. 19, the crew offloaded approximately 49,010 lbs of illicit narcotics worth more than $362 million at Port Everglades. The contraband was hauled during 15 interdictions in the Eastern Pacific.

YOAfter 76 days (and YEARS and YEARS of going through shutdowns UNPAID), we finally got funded after the longest shutdown in history.
If you need more info, look up where our Coast Guard Commandant Speaks on CBS and represented us amazingly 👏
We are the only military branch that has to go through this mess every time. And if anyone says we aren’t active military check out Title 14 USC 101. It states we are a military branch at all times for keyboard warriors.
No more of this mess. Something better needs to be done for USCG families.
