MOUnakoti — India’s Hidden Jungle of 10 Million Stone Carvings 🗿🌿

The name Unakoti literally means “one less than a crore”, and according to legends, there are nearly 10 million rock carvings and sculptures hidden across these hills.
The most famous sculpture is the giant 30-foot face of Lord Shiva, carved directly into the rock. Around it, you’ll see massive stone faces, carvings of Hindu gods, and ancient sculptures spread throughout the forest.
According to local legends, Lord Shiva once rested here with his followers. When they failed to wake up before sunrise, he turned them into stone — and that’s why the jungle is filled with these mysterious carvings.
Walking through Unakoti feels like entering a real-life Indiana Jones adventure. You’ll hear waterfalls, birds, and the quiet sounds of the forest while these ancient faces watch from the rocks.
