India has 22 official languages and the richness and beauty of each language is incredible 🦚 The one thing that really surprises everyone abroad is when we tell them that we speak two completely different languages that don’t really resemble each other, not in their origins or their letters 🤯

Odia language, is the oldest of the Indo-Aryan languages with some 50 million speakers. It is the main official language of the Indian state of Odisha (Oriya). The language has several dialects; Mughalbandi (Coastal Odia) is the standard dialect and the language of education.
Odia arguably dates back to the 10th century CE AND IS heavily influenced by the Dravidian languages as well as Arabic, Persian, and English.
Tamil language is a member of the Dravidian language family, spoken primarily in India. It is the official language of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and the union territory of Puducherry(Pondicherry). It is also an official language in Sri Lanka and Singapore and has significant numbers of speakers in Malaysia, Mauritius, Fiji, and South Africa. In 2004, Tamil was declared a classical language of India, meaning that it met three criteria: its origins are ancient (dates back to the 5th century BCE); it has an independent tradition; and it possesses a considerable body of ancient literature. In the early 21st century more than 66 million people were Tamil speakers.
