_JDon’t waste your weekends going to the wrong places in Upstate NY
These are some of the most beautiful state parks in NY and they’re all easy to get to from NYC, Rochester and Buffalo
If you’ve been wanting a quick trip that doesn’t take a lot of time, this is exactly where I’d go (+ spring is the best time to see the waterfalls!)
WHAT TO KNOW:
💰 Parking is $10 per vehicle or free with an Empire Pass
🎟️ Your parking pass is good for the entire day and is valid for other New York State Parks, including nearby Taughannock Falls State Park, Buttermilk Falls State Park, and Robert H Tremain. So you can visit multiple parks without having to pay again!

This is the Gorge Trail in Watkins Glen State Park located in upstate New York. This hike is a must do with its 19 waterfalls, 800 stone stairs, and 7 stone bridges. You’ll even walk behind a few waterfalls on this out and back 2 mile trail. While you can continue hiking into the gorge deeper, hiking one mile into the trail will show you the most impressive waterfalls. Don’t let the short hike distance fool you though because this hike is steep, especially at the beginning!

We love NYC but there is SO much more to see in New York than just the city! This park is one of the many gems in upstate NY.
Known as the Grand Canyon of the East, Letchworth State Park is a must visit! It was even voted the #1 state park in the US!
✨Must see spots:
Middle Falls - the most iconic viewpoint
Upper Falls - framed by the historic railroad bridge
Lower Falls - quieter and worth the stairs
Inspiration Point - the best panoramic viewpoint
Things to do:
🚙 Drive the scenic park road
🥾Hike the gorge trail (classic Letchworth hike)
🎈Take a hot air balloon ride through the gorge
🛶Raft the river
✨Check out all the scenic viewpoints
Many viewpoints are roadside so even if you don’t want to hike or if you’re short on time, you can still view the icnonic beauty!

One of my absolute favorite getaways from NYC as you can see 4 Best NY State Parks while enjoying some amazing food and wineries of this Finger Lakes Region. 🍇

After work, leave NYC and drive upstate to Ithaca for 3 nights. Stays that I loved are Statler Hotel, Ithaca Marriott Downtown and Canopy by Hilton.

✦ Watkins Glen State Park - Start hiking this state park before sunrise for best experience as its really very popular. Opt for the Gorge Trail and see many waterfalls including famous Rainbow Falls ⏰: 3-4hrs
✦ Ithaca Falls - My absolute favorite waterfall that doesn’t require any hiking ⏰: 0.5-1 hr
✦ Cascadilla Gorge - An easy 0.5-mile loop trail that is picturesque and beautiful with hardly any people around. ⏰: 1hr
✦ Ithaca Commons - The Commons is a four-block pedestrian shopping area with more than 100 independently owned and operated shops and boutiques, gift shops, restaurants, art galleries etc.

✦ Taughannock State Park -Start the day visiting another epic state park with stunning views from upper deck. Opt for Gorge Trail (1.8miles) ⏰: 2hr
✦ Buttermilk Falls State Park - A state park with 10 amazing waterfalls. Just don’t visit at the entrance alone as better waterfalls are a short hike away. ⏰: 1-1.5hr
✦ Seneca /Cayuga Wineries - Some amazing wineries to visit are Six Mile Creek, Wagner Vineyards Estate, Boundary Breaks, Ravines Wine Cellar, etc.
✦ Seneca Lake - Enjoy the beautiful lake front and highly recommend going on a sunset boat cruise which typically starts from May. ⏰: 1-1.5hr

✦ Robert H. Treman State Park - Visit this state park to see some amazing waterfalls like Lucifer Falls, Lower Falls while enjoying the beautiful sceneries around ⏰: 1-2hr

You’re paying for the socialized roll out of failed wind and solar for this state.
Even worse, this leaked memo shows you’ll be covering the cost of these failures by 2031 if the Climate Act is not thrown out altogether.
My favorite: Upstate NY households will incur about $4,000 in costs, while downstate NYC households will only incur $2,300.
I wonder why that is? Yet again Upstate NY is bled dry for NYC. All of the big solar and wind are up here - yet we’re shouldering more of the cost as well?
Looks like the promise of “lower utility bills” that big solar corporations LIE about at our doorsteps isn’t true.
In fact, everything they told you about this Climate Act is a lie.
This little leaked slip up is definitely an oopsie for them! Sunlight is always the best disinfectant.
