VAThe question sounds like concern, but it’s just another way to shift responsibility off the person who caused harm and onto the person who survived it.
I was the victim. I was scared, confused, and trying to make it through something I didn’t have the language, power, or support to even process, let alone report.
The responsibility was never mine. Not then, not now.
If someone goes on to hurt others, that is on them and on the systems and adults who failed to step in, not the child who was trying to survive it.
Stop asking survivors why they didn’t do more. Start asking why the people who could’ve done something… didn’t.

Ahalya was married to the sage Gautama.
One day, the god Indra wanted her. So he disguised himself as her husband and came to her.
She didn’t know. How could she?
But when Gautama found out, he didn’t curse Indra.

After 16+ years working with trauma, I see this pattern everywhere:
The woman questioned about what she was wearing.
The survivor asked why she didn’t fight back.
The girl blamed for “leading him on.”
Your body froze. Your voice disappeared. You turned to stone.
Not because you were weak.
Because that’s what shame does. It freezes you.
Ahalya stayed frozen until Ram’s touch broke the curse.
But you don’t need to wait for someone else to unfreeze you.
The shame that turned you to stone? It was never yours to carry.
What happened to you wasn’t your fault.
The shame doesn’t belong to you.
You were never the problem.
Ahalya deserved better.

YAVictim blaming is not cute, things like;
“Why is your skin still like that? You must be doing something wrong? are you even trying to fix it? It’s probably your fault for using all those creams or not taking care of yourself properly. Maybe if you stopped eating junk or figured out what’s triggering it, you wouldn’t look like this. Why don’t you just go back home? Honestly, it seems like you’re just making it worse by scratching or stressing over it. Do you even clean your environment properly? You can’t expect it to get better if you’re not willing to change anything!”
