RISid Vicious broke his leg in a gruesome, career-altering injury while wrestling for WCW (World Championship Wrestling), not WWE, at the Sin pay-per-view event on January 14, 2001.
The injury occurred during a Four Corners match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship when Vicious, under pressure from management to incorporate aerial moves into his repertoire, attempted a jumping big boot from the second turnbuckle. Upon landing, his left leg snapped under his body weight, resulting in a compound fracture of both the tibia and fibula.
