🦌🩶💛𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗮𝘆!💛🩶🦌 FRYSTON V HINDLEY Hindley travelled over the Pennines to Fryston Warriors this morning in a friendly. Hindley kicked off to Fryston and set for set both teams held their own. Hindley suffered a knock on for the 3rd tackle, giving the Fryston the ball on their own line. The first points on the board were from Fryston were unfortunately in the tackle our very own Lily B suffered a horrible injury and had to go off to hospital. 6-0 The girls stepped up their game for Lily and gave a good couple sets, again an accidental knock on from a long pass gave Fryston the ball but Hindley reacted Willow and Halle managed to get Fryston into touch on the first tackle. Hindley ran the ball, passing it through the team to get it to Keira who went over for Hindley’s first try. No goal scored 6-4 We had some amazing sets from the girls, Hindley switched off in the scrum when Fryston scored straight from the scrum on the stroke of half time 12-4. Hindley definitely came out ready for the second half, they defended so well with the amount of ball Fryston had. Fryston knocked on, Hindley’s scrum Phoebe H fed the scrum, straight out weaved through, saw the gap and went over the line for her try, Phoebe kicked her goal 12-10. Fryston had position on their own line, every single Hindley girl, worked their socks off to keep them away from scoring. Some big runs from Laycie who got us up the field a few times, but we were unable to score. Eadie and Hannah did some good drives, Halle was a tackling machine. But a Fryston went over in the last couple of minutes to make the final score 16-10. The coaches are so so proud of everyone of them girls who pulled the shirt on today, we can’t fault any one of them girls for their amazing effort. In honour of @iwdaorg, we are celebrating #womeninrugby this week - kicking off with the fabulous Tyler sisters, Meg, Ruby and Irene. We basically grew up at TG and this club is an integral part of who we have become. Whether it was sitting on the scrum machine at the boys training, running all over the grandstand, being a ball kid or sitting watching the footy on the hill. One of our greatest memories is finally being able to play on TG for the first time in our lives when we had a showcase of the girls rugby programme on Back to Eastwood Day in 2017 where we played against ourselves at half time of First Grade. It was so special to finally be able to play on the field that means so much to us and our family. Hearing the crowd cheer for us was something we hadn’t experienced before and something that never gets old. That’s what makes the development of the girls to now women’s programme so incredible. It is amazing to see how far we’ve come where now playing on TG Millner is a norm, and we’re so lucky it is. We have been fortunate enough to be a part of the programme every step of the way, through all the highs and the lows. This translates to one of your other favourite memories which was when we won our semi-final in 2024 to get us into the grand final. This moment cultivated all the hard work that we and everyone involved in Eastwood girls and womens rugby over the years had done. It was such a privilege to represent Eastwood and we are so proud of our achievements. This is a credit to our Dad for being a pioneer in women’s rugby at Eastwood giving us the opportunity to play and for introducing us to such a special club where we can all share this great passion. Being a part of this community has given us countless memories that we will value forever and we can’t wait for the many more we make.
