The ONLY thing that determines fat loss is a calorie deficit. Period. But here’s why these swaps matter: The “lose weight” foods are: ✅ Lower in calories (easier to stay in a deficit) ✅ Higher in protein (keeps you full and protects muscle) ✅ Higher in fiber (stabilizes blood sugar and reduces cravings) The “gain weight” foods aren’t bad - they’re just calorie-dense. If you’re not tracking, it’s easy to overeat them without realizing it. Here’s what I tell my 400+ clients: Track what you’re eating for a week. Then eat 500 calories less than that baseline. That’s your deficit. These swaps just make it easier to hit your calorie target without feeling starved or restricted. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to eliminate foods you love.
