Nutritionist (B.HlthSc Nut) here 🙋‍♀️ Do you have to eat before you train? You don’t have to, but SHOULD you? Yes. Consuming 0.5-1g of carbohydrates per kg of body mass of easily digestible carbohydrates, 30 - 45 minutes before you train has been shown to: ➡️ adequately fuel the body with sufficient energy to maximise performance ➡️ support muscle protein synthesis ➡️ aid in recovery Essentially, if your training is a priority, your pre-training nutrition should be too 🤝 It isn’t the end of the world if you don’t eat, however it’s also not optimal either. If you are someone who struggles to eat before you train, especially if you train in the early hours of the morning, my tip here is to try to consume ‘liquid fuel’ instead. Think orange juice or a fruit puree pouch. Even if you can just have a small bite of a banana, or a single medjool date, something is better than nothing! #nutrition #sportsnutrition #nutritionist #preworkout
