Hi it's me @phaentompoet back again for the collab with @still_museum , this time with a poem– felt like a good moment to share a little piece of my own. There is a beautiful little courtyard-like area outside of the museum with tables and seats, great for post-visit conversions or meditation. It seemed to me like a great place to recite poetry as well. I considered if I had any poetry that related at all to Still’s work and/or abstract expressionism. I landed on my poem “Cosmologic” from my SYZYGY project (available to stream for free on my bandcamp!). It’s a poem that came from a series of poems created along with oracle card readings, and many of the phrases used were descriptions of the cards and their interpretations. Many artists incorporate mystical or divination techniques into their work, and much like abstract expressionism, these techniques invite serendipity and spontaneity over emphasizing narrative meaning. In this poem, the words/phrases/images all run into each other and can be interpreted in multiple ways as a result. For me, the word “the” becomes both a central hinge in the poem and simultaneously lost in the constant repetition. Thanks for listening! Let me know what you think!
