🧩 Different SKILLS ask for different foot KINEMATICS ask for different EXERCISE selection! 🌪️ Sprinting at top speed calls for a high center of mass, the ankle uses its muscles to build a high fulcrum to horizontally project over. Logically, in the 100ms on the ground, the ankle presents itself in the strongest position for horizontal speed. Ankle in 10 deg plantarflexion. 🔥 Acceleration is done with a low center of mass. Longer ground contact times (250ms) and the ankle again being a strong anchor point for the body to move over. Just this time with a more bend knee/hip. 🏃🏽‍♂️ Marathon pace ( 21km/h or 2:52 min/km or 4:36 min/mile) has slightly longer ground contact times than sprinting 150-180ms. Perfect to the use of the cost effective achilles tendon to its fullest potential. If you’re really smart, training is testing and testing is training, meaning all your prep work should progressively stress the injured site and culminate in a total stress that tells you if they can handle the action of **insert task** (in this case acceleration). How much risk would you take during your ACL rehab? Neymar’s ACL rehabilitation story continues. He is now in the phase where the intensity increases, focusing on jumping and explosiveness. This phase also reveals if certain aspects need more attention and if compensations need to be addressed. **Exercise 1:** This is a great exercise, but the hamstrings need to protect the knee extension. Neymar’s knee falls into hyperextension, and the hamstrings react too late, doing nothing. **Exercise 2:** During the landing after a jump, the muscles around the knee need to absorb the impact. A dynamic landing is crucial. Think about sufficient knee flexion and a hinge pattern for hamstring activation. For Neymar, his landing is stiff and lacks the full dynamic absorption of ground contact. **Exercise 3:** Avoid lateral flexion as much as possible during a plant and cut movement. **Exercise 4:** During a jump and landing, both legs should push off and absorb the landing. Neymar still shows a clear preference for his right leg. **Exercise 5:** During acceleration, where the quads are primarily working, there’s a significant shift to his dominant right leg. I wonder how many quad deficits remain.
