REAnamorphic vs Spherical lenses
These 2 types of lenses give very different looks, even at the same focal length. The vertical field of view is the same, but the anamorphic lenses gather a wider horizontal field of view and squeeze it onto the sensor, which is then dequeezed in post, resulting in a much wider aspect ratio.
There's also a lot of other aspects like lens character and there's plenty of reasons to use both types of lenses.
This was shot on the Blackmagic Pyxis 12k in 4k 3:2 open gate and the lenses used were the Blazar Vipers (35, 50, 75mm), Sigma Contemporary (35mm) and Thypoch Simera-Cs (50, 75mm).

JATesting out vertical filming with anamorphic lenses. Essentially when you film 9:16 format and use 2x anamorphic lenses you get an 18:16 output which is close to a square 1:1.
This could actually be quite useful taking vertical content, 4:5 and even 16:9 content from it if it’s a high res 4k file. Even better if you have a 6k or 8k sensor.
