TRYou can tell if someone has Anterior Pelvic Tilt (APT) just by testing their hip rotation.
Here’s the truth most people miss:
If your hip external rotation (ER) is wide open but your internal rotation (IR) is limited
you’re probably stuck in APT.
Why?
Because APT isn’t just about posture.
It’s a compensation pattern.
• In APT, the pelvis tilts forward.
• That pushes the femur heads backward in the socket.
• Result? You gain ER (because the hips are already rotated out)…
…but you lose IR (because your pelvis doesn’t allow the femur to rotate inward anymore).
This is a dead giveaway your pelvis is stuck forward and externally rotated.
You can’t stretch your way out of this.
You need to reposition the pelvis.
The fix = 90/90 Hip Lift:
Activate hamstrings to pull the pelvis back under you and restore IR.
Step-by-step:
1. Lie on your back, feet on wall, knees + hips at 90°
2. Dig heels into the wall, slight tuck to feel hamstrings
3. Inhale through nose, long full exhale to empty your ribs
4. Light tailbone lift off the floor—not using your glutes
5. Keep breathing, stay hamstring-dominant, not quad-heavy
