🔹 10 Foot Strengthening & Stabilization Exercises In this session, I perform 10 targeted foot exercises designed to improve stability, enhance neuromuscular control, and support long-term joint health. These exercises help with prevention and management of conditions such as: ✔️ Plantar fasciitis ✔️ Trigger toe ✔️ Bunion (hallux valgus) ✔️ Flat feet (pes planus) ✔️ Ankle instability ✔️ General lower-limb joint dysfunction 💪 The goal is to strengthen the intrinsic foot muscles, improve arch support, enhance proprioception, and reduce excessive load on the knees, hips, and lower back. 🔸 Protocol ⏱ Perform each exercise for 30–45 seconds 🔁 Complete 2–3 sets 📅 Train 2–3 times per week You can integrate this routine: 🏋️ Between gym sessions as active recovery 🏠 As a light home-based warm-up ⚡ Before lower-body workouts to activate stabilizers Consistent practice improves foot mechanics, joint alignment, and overall lower-extremity resilience. #feet #joints #exercise #training #pain

Taping for Arch Support. Tired of aching feet or feeling like your arches just can’t keep up with your day? Whether you’re an athlete, on your feet all day, or just dealing with flat or fatigued arches, proper support can make all the difference. In this reel, we’ll show you a simple taping technique to lift and stabilize your arch for better comfort and performance. 🌀 🔎 Why Is Arch Support Important? The arch of your foot acts like a spring, absorbing shock and supporting your body weight with every step. When it’s weak, collapsed, or under stress, it can lead to pain, fatigue, and even issues in the ankles, knees, and hips. 🔎 Common Reasons for Arch Issues: 1️⃣ Flat Feet: Naturally low arches or fallen arches can cause strain and discomfort. 🦶 2️⃣ Overuse or Fatigue: Running, walking long distances, or standing all day can wear down your arch support. 🏃‍♀️👟 3️⃣ Improper Footwear: Shoes without proper arch support can worsen the problem over time. 👞 🔎 How Taping Helps: 1️⃣ Lifts and Supports the Arch: The tape acts as an external brace, reducing strain on the muscles and ligaments. 🌱 2️⃣ Distributes Pressure Evenly: Taping helps balance the load on your foot, reducing hotspots of pain or fatigue. 🧬✨ 3️⃣ Promotes Natural Movement: Unlike rigid orthotics, taping supports your arch while allowing full mobility for everyday activities. 💪 🧠 For Medical Pros and Everyday Movers: Whether you’re helping patients with flat feet or recovering from plantar pain yourself, this taping technique provides instant relief and long-term benefits. 💡 Save this reel to reference for client sessions or for your own recovery and comfort. Because every step you take should feel strong, stable, and supported. #Spidertech #ArchSupport #FootHealth #KinesiologyTape #PhysicalTherapy #PainRelief #FlatFeetFix #RehabTools #PhysiotherapyTips #MovementMatters

Rating popular women footwear options As an orthopedic surgeon, I see daily knee, foot, and back problems linked to poor footwear choices. Stilettos, narrow toe boxes, and flat ballet shoes increase joint stress and alter walking mechanics. Supportive running shoes, low wedges (1–2 cm), and structured sandals protect your arches and improve alignment. 👟 Before buying, check arch support, heel stability, and toe space. Your feet carry you all day choose wisely. Trying to find sandals with bunions is honestly a nightmare. Straps digging in. Bunions spilling out the sides. Constant adjusting. And that low-level embarrassment every time you look down at your feet (even though bunions are nothing to be ashamed of). You end up choosing between pain… or hiding. Until you find sandals that are actually designed for you. That’s what makes Calla different. Soft, carefully positioned straps that don’t cut in or expose. A wide toe box that gives your feet space. Built-in arch support for all-day comfort. Materials that move with you, not against you. No squeezing. No spilling. No second-guessing. Just sandals that feel as good as they look 🤍

Style writer Zoe Vanderweide has one quick tip for assessing whether that cute pair of sandals is likely to leave your dogs barking by the end of a trek around town. For longer wears, choose a shoe that bends at the ball of the foot, but doesn’t twist in the middle. As Zoe discovered, sandals that pass the twist-test (and offer good arch support, cushioning, and traction) without being hideous are exceedingly rare. Not every pair that we recommend ticks all the boxes, but we did eliminate any that we found to be painful — even the pretty ones. Head to the link in our bio to see all of the sandals that made our list.

If you’ve been aggressively rolling your foot with minimal relief, it may be time to rethink the strategy. Plantar fasciitis is typically a load-related condition rather than a purely “tight tissue” problem. It commonly presents as heel pain, especially with the first steps in the morning, and is associated with repetitive loading, altered foot mechanics, and capacity deficits within the plantar fascia and surrounding musculature. When the foot and lower-limb muscles lack sufficient strength or endurance, the fascia is exposed to higher mechanical stress. While rolling may temporarily modulate symptoms via neural mechanisms, it does not address the underlying load tolerance of the fascia. More effective rehabilitation priorities typically target tissue capacity, force attenuation, and gait mechanics: 1. Intrinsic foot strength – Improving intrinsic strength enhances active arch support, reduces excessive strain on passive structures. 2. First MTP (big toe) and ankle mobility – Adequate dorsiflexion of the first MTP joint is critical for normal windlass mechanism function. Restricted mobility at the big toe and the ankle itself can impair force transfer, alter push-off mechanics, and increase compensatory loading through the plantar fascia. 3. Calf strength – The plantarflexors play a central role in energy storage, shock absorption, and forward propulsion. 4. Ankle and proximal stability – Foot loading is heavily influenced by upstream mechanics. Deficits in ankle control, hip stability, or frontal-plane trunk mechanics can contribute to excessive mobility, altered ground reaction forces, and inefficient load management. Let’s work together! So many shoe brands. But when choosing a shoe, the brand matters less than the support. What actually matters: 1) Arch support Your arch works like a spring. If the shoe is too flat, pressure shifts to your heel and forefoot, stressing your ankles, knees, and lower back. 2) Cushioning It’s not about softness. Good cushioning absorbs impact. Bad cushioning sends it straight to your joints. 3) Balance & stability Look for a wider base, firm sides, and strong heel support. Better posture. Less fatigue. Choose shoes that support your body, not just your style.

Symptomatic hypermobility is often called an invisible illness. But when you know what to look for, the hypermobility part actually leaves a lot of visible clues. 👉 I just sent a deep dive with more info on this to everyone on the waitlist for the spring round of my Ground Control program (intro to stability and pain management for hypermobility). 👉Comment or DM ShortFoot to add yourself to the Ground Control waitlist and get this helpful email, along with other pre-school education I’m sending out to this waitlist over the next few weeks. No obligation (seriously!). Just more helpful info 🦓 Many hypermobile humans have a flexible flat foot. That can show up as a callus on the big toe like I have here. A callus there can mean other things too. But it should be a cue to look closer at foot mobility, because excessive pronation from lax ligaments is common in hypermobile bodies. When the foot is very flexible, it’s easy to just hang out on passive structures instead of using that motion like the quick spring it’s meant to be. And if strength up the entire chain isn’t there to support that mobility, problems can build. Supportive shoes or an arch support can absolutely help. But improving strength and control of the foot is just as important. Also important: feet are supposed to pronate. A rigid arch all the time isn’t ideal either. And some people have a rigid flat foot that’s stuck in pronation, which is a different issue entirely. Yes, it’s nuanced! But little signs like this are clues worth paying attention to. If you want to go deeper, I just sent an email to my Ground Control waitlist with more, and sharing two more of my favorite hypermobile foot exercises! 👉Comment or DM ShortFoot to add yourself to the Ground Control waitlist and get this helpful email!! On this waitlist you’ll also get other pre-school education I’m sending out over the next few weeks. No obligation. Just more helpful info 🦓 #EhlersDanlosSyndrome #hEDS #EDS #hypermobility
