THनगद, अझै पनि जापानी अर्थतन्त्रको मेरुदण्ड हो। 90 को दशकमा जापानी येन बनाउन प्रयोग हुने “मित्सुमाता” वनस्पतिको उपलब्धता जलवायु परिवर्तन र किसानहरूको कमीका कारण घट्न थाल्यो।
जापानी सरकारले नोट छाप्नका लागि कागजको कमी हुँदा, “कान्पो” कम्पनीले नेपालका जङ्गलहरूमा “मित्सुमाता” जस्तै गुण भएका “अर्गेली” फेला पार्यो र यसलाई येन नोटको प्रमुख स्रोतको रूपमा प्रयोग गरिन थालेको छ।
नेपालले अर्जेलीको प्रयोग गर्न नसक्नु र विदेशमा आफ्नो मुद्रा छाप्नुपर्ने कारण भनेको यहाँ नोट छाप्ने “Security Printing Press” नहुनु हो। यदि नेपालले अर्जेलीलाई ठूलो परिमाणमा उत्पादन गरी ५० करोड टन निर्यात गर्न सक्यो भने, देशमा १७० खरब रुपैयाँ भित्रिने प्रक्षेपण गरिएको छ।
