It took me a few days to post this. I’m beside myself. I already have armed security during dinner service to keep staff, customers and property safe. I cannot afford to have it 24/7. I have been as vocal as anyone possibly could that the rampant crime in LA is devastating for small businesses still recovering from the pandemic. Arson, extreme vandalism, chronic property damage, smash & grabs, robberies- these issues are rampant. The Mayor, LA City Council and LA County officials are all turning a blind-eye as mom & pop businesses are under attack. The Mayor knows Sherman Oaks is drowning in crime and she passionately campaigned for police defunder Nithya Raman. Raman votes against any homeless camping laws- this is why Sherman Oaks continues to be a battle ground for small businesses dealing with vagrant crimes. And for all her radical-socialist supporters who say “who cares it’s just property- you have insurance” - NO WE DON’T!!!! All business insurance carriers are leaving LA & California citing it is uninsurable. If local authorities do not prosecute crime why would insurance continue to pay for it?!?! This is a consequence & extreme failure of pro-criminal District Attorney George Gascon. There will be no consequence for this arson- guaranteed!! Small businesses are on the front lines of this crisis and no one is helping us. Instead they brainwash the public saying “crime is down.” Crime is not down- it’s way up! But getting a police report filed on this took me 10 hours - that’s why crime is “down”. No one wanted to file this crime report, only reason I got it filed as a crime & arson is because I’m crazy persistent. This is not the LA my family knows for the past 68 years on this corner. Not sure what else I can do to make City Officials care about little small businesses or our neighbors around us. #losangeles #venturablvd #shermanoaks
