Want to transform your communication skills? Start with this self-awareness exercise. Record yourself speaking for 5 minutes on any topic. Leave it for a day (this removes the initial self-criticism). Then review it in three stages: Stage 1: Watch on mute Focus purely on body language. What are your hands doing? How do your facial expressions support your message? Notice your posture and movement patterns. Stage 2: Listen without watching Turn the phone around and just listen. Pay attention to vocal qualities: your pace, volume, tone variations, and energy levels. What do you like? What needs work? Stage 3: Get it transcribed This reveals your communication patterns in black and white. You'll spot repetition, circular reasoning, filler words, and structural issues you never noticed before. One session gives you 5-10 concrete improvement areas. That's your roadmap to becoming a more effective communicator. Comment "AMPLIFY" for my 3 part video series where I teach the full process!

Ever had someone speak to you in a way that felt condescending? How do you react? Instead of snapping back or shrinking, try this: (Jefferson Fisher shares this brilliant strategy in his soon-to-be-published book, The Next Conversation.) ✅ Pause and say, “Sorry, I didn’t catch that - could you repeat it?” This makes them sit with their own words. Most people realize how off they sound. If they double down, follow up with: – “What did you mean by that?” – “Was that meant to be helpful or hurtful?” Now they have to explain. You stay calm, confident, and in control. Jefferson Fisher (@jefferson_fisher ) is a master at this. His book makes you rethink how you communicate everywhere. It had me reflecting on things I’ve said, things I didn’t say, and things I could have said better. I read it cover to cover on a recent flight - couldn’t put it down. So many valuable takeaways for how to handle tough conversations. If you want to improve how you communicate, pre-order a copy (jeffersonfisher.com/book - it’s published on the 18th). You won’t regret it. P.S. How do you usual react when someone says something condescending or belittling? #communication #communicationtips

This is the fastest way to improve your public speaking skills. Most people avoid watching themselves speak. But here's what happens when you do: You'll catch the unconscious habits killing your credibility. By the way if you want the full process - comment AMPLIFY and I'll send you my FREE 3 part video series teaching this. Here's my three-step review process: Audio first. Listen without watching. You'll hear every "um," every rushed sentence, every moment your pacing falls apart. Visual second. Watch yourself on mute. Notice your posture, facial expressions, and body language. Are you engaging or creating barriers? Structure third. Get it transcribed and run it through AI. Ask: Are there grammatical errors? Does the structure make sense? Is the flow logical? What are my filler words and non-words? Do this once and you'll have three concrete lists: vocal improvements, body language adjustments, and structural refinements. The gap between how you think you communicate and how you actually communicate is often massive. Recording closes that gap faster than any other method.

When you’re in an environment where you’re lacking confidence (usually the workplace) it’s really easy to slip into communication patterns that can erode or undermine your credibility if consistently repeated. ⁣ ⁣ One of these is using softeners like “I think… or “I don’t know” before or after a sentence. ⁣ ⁣ The effect of these softeners (if used repeatedly) is that you may unintentionally undersell what you are contributing, which doesn’t help when it comes to perceived credibility.⁣ ⁣ You can be unsure about something and still contribute an idea, a thought or a question in a way that conveys confidence in who you are as a person. ⁣ ⁣ And that comes down to your choice of language. ⁣ ⁣ If you tend to frequently default to “I think”, or “I don’t know…” or any other ‘filler’ (e.g. “just”, “like”, “perhaps”), try swapping it for something else.⁣ ⁣ “I believe…” or “My perspective is…” are great fallbacks.⁣ ⁣ Other alternatives include:⁣ My view is… ⁣ My take on it is… ⁣ My opinion is… ⁣ It seems to me that… ⁣ It appears that… ⁣ The way I see things is that…⁣ ⁣ This is a great tip for whenever you might be presenting and you’re asked a question, or even during interviews or panel discussions.⁣ A simple yet impactful tweak to your language can have a really significant impact to how you’re perceived (not to mention how you feel!).⁣ ⁣ Have you ever used something like this? How did it feel? 👇⁣⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #confidence #confidentcommunication #communication #confident #language #languagetips #languagetools #careertips #careerconfidnece #leadershiplanguage #leadership #leadershipcommunication #emotionalintelligence #careeradvice #jobinterivew #interview #presentation #presentationskills #publicspeaking #influence #influencetechniques

Confidence is a skill that is developed from the inside out but sometimes, we need a little real-life strategy to bring that confidence out. Speaking in statement instead of questions is one of those strategies.
