BEBagmaking isn’t hard — but a few small mistakes make it feel that way.
When someone tells me they’re struggling with bagmaking, it’s almost never because they “can’t sew.”
It’s usually because a few little things are working against them.
I see it when fabric is trying to hold shape it was never meant to.
Pretty cotton, no structure, and suddenly the bag won’t stand, seams won’t behave, and the handles never sit quite right.
I see it when steps happen out of order.
Bulky layers get added too early, and everything after that feels harder than it should — flatter seams, cleaner corners, and an easier sew all start with the order you build the bag.
And I see it when speed takes over where accuracy actually matters.
Zippers, layered seams, topstitching — rushing those almost always leads to rip-outs and a bag that feels finished in a hurry instead of finished on purpose.
None of this is about talent.
They’re construction choices — and once you start noticing them, you can fix them in every bag you make.
