For the binding, I try to cut it so that you can see the important parts. To be honest, that's not so easy. Teil 1. Koptische Binding mit zwei Nadeln. Bevor wir mit der Binfung starten, benötigen wir erstmal ein Cover und passendes Papier. Im Video siehst den Prozess dazu. Für die Bindung versuche ich es so zu schneiden, dass man die wichtigen Teile erkennen kann. Das ist gar nicht so einfach, um ehrlich zu sein. #bookbinding #reliure #copticstitch #bindery #education

Here’s a joyful video of the brilliant marbling class we recently took at @owlandlion in Sydney. The bindery was founded by @isabellebookbinding , who was trained in a Florentine master bindery. For years we have been making hand-marbled tags, cards & backgrounds that accompany our marine life pieces, in a nod to the marbled end-papers used in old natural history books. This winter I took my second workshop at The Book Bindery in @historic_sugartown This class focused on book sewing and taught three new stitches: the herringbone stitch, the French link stitch, and the Coptic stitch. You then have three new text blocks to take home and cover as you’d please. The French link stitch was my favorite and I will definitely use this when I get around to binding my books!
