The Blurting Method is an amazing study technique that trains your brain into retain more information, by forcing it to extract what it already knows by “blurting” it out onto the page 🧠 By doing this, we flip learning on it’s head, and are able to notice and fill gaps in our knowledge when we compare what we just wrote down to our notes. Is it correct? What’s missing? What can I add more detail to? By doing this regularly, especially when combined with Spaced Repetition, we will retain lots more information, and pass all of our exams! 📚 . . . #studystream #study #studystudystudy #student #students #studentlife #uni #university #unilife #universitylife #college #collegelife #studentproblems #studytips #studytip #studyhack #notetaking #studynotes #studytips101 #deskaesthetic #aestheticdesksetup #studygram #studygramcommunity #studyindia #studygramindonesia #school #collegetips #studyblr #studymotivation #studygrambr @studystream_

The white board method explained: 1️⃣ Blurting Phase: Write everything you remember about a topic on a whiteboard—no notes, no looking, just pure brainpower! It’s messy but magic. 2️⃣ Check & Fill the Gaps: Compare what you wrote with your notes or textbook. Identify what you missed or misunderstood. 3️⃣ Feynman Technique: Teach the topic to yourself (or an imaginary friend 🧠) in simple terms. If you get stuck, revisit the gaps and repeat until you’ve nailed it! This method combines active recall, self-testing, and teaching—proven ways to boost retention and understanding. Whiteboards = study game changer. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you! 💡 #StudyTips #WhiteboardMethod #ActiveRecall #FeynmanTechnique #productivity #study #studygram #studysmarter

READ MORE ⬇️ ——————————————— QOTD: what is your dream job? I always get asked for study methods that you can all use and so in this post I wanted to share a complete guide to one of the most effective study methods out there: the BLURTING METHOD! If you really want to test your understanding of a topic and learn information efficiently, then this is a method that you really need to try out! [🔍] What is it? —> When you are preparing for an exam, it can be hard to figure out what you know already. The Blurting Method is a great way to find out what you need to work on and test your knowledge throughout revision. All you need is get a blank piece of paper and write down everything you remember without looking at your notes. Then you check to see what you missed. Repeat until you remember everything! [🖋️] The Steps —> Step 1: Review your notes to remind yourself of the topic —> Step 2: Get a blank piece of paper (you could also add some topic titles to guide what you need to ‘blurt’) —> Step 3: Set yourself a time limit (about 5 minutes but adjust based on the size of the topic) —> Step 4: Write down everything you can remember on the page, trying to be as thorough as possible —> Step 5: Once finished, use a different coloured pen to fill in any knowledge gaps and identify weaknesses. —> Step 6: Repeat [📜] The Benefits —> It forces you to use active recall which is great preparation for a test or an exam —> It clearly highlights knowledge gaps so you know what you need to focus on when reviewing —> It creates connections in your brain and makes you think about the topic systematically —> Your blurting sheets can be a great revision resource that you can look over before an exam —> It forces you to really engage and interact with the content ——————————————— #studymethods #studytechniques #studytime #studytips #studyaddict #studyhacks #studygrams #pomodorotechnique #studystudystudy #studyspace #handwrittennotes #revisionnotes #studyblog #studygramcommunity #studycorner #studynow #studyhard #studymemes #studymotivation #ukstudygram #studyblr #studyinuk #studyinspo #studymode #studywithme

The secret to STUDY smarter👇🏽👩🏽‍🎓💯 Try the 5-step blurting method to study smart so you can spend less time studying and achieve top grades ⬇️❤️ WHAT IS THE BLURTING METHOD? The blurting method is a cognitive learning strategy that uses active recall to improve memory of a concept. It is vital for all students to use this if you want to remember what you are studying! 🧠 To use the blurting method simply follow these 5 easy steps ⬇️ 1. Study the information 📖 Read and learn the information you need to study first 2. Summarise the information in your notes 📝 Chunk the concepts you are learning into a set of short notes to boost recall. 3. Repeat & reinforce through teaching out loud 🔁 Use the Feynman technique to teach what you’ve studied out loud with your notes to boost recall. 4. Blank page test 🗒️ On a blank page without your notes write down everything you can remember from recall! This is what study experts like to call blurting. 5. Review & Reflect 💯 Mark how well you did based on how much you could recall. Share with a friend for good luck! 🧠❤️💯 I taught Brendan how to use the blurting method and he scored 100% in his last exam! STOP wasting time on study habits that don’t work. 🛑 If you actually want to remember things instead of just staring at your notes, you have to try this method. Honestly, it’s such a helpful way to study and it really helped me. ☁️ 1. The Blurting Method ✍️ Instead of just highlighting, read a page and then immediately close the book. Write down everything you remember in a “brain dump.” This forces your brain to retrieve the information rather than just recognizing it. 🧠 2. Simplify the Concept 🗣️ Try explaining what you just learned out loud as if you’re talking to a friend. If you start rambling or get stuck, that’s your brain telling you exactly what you don’t know yet. Go back and fix those specific gaps. 💡 3. Take Screen Free Breaks 🌿 Our brains don’t actually process information while we’re scrolling on our phones. Once you finish a deep study block, step away from your desk and go for a walk or just sit in silence for ten minutes. It gives your mind the space it needs to actually wire that info in. 🔋

Leave blurting in 2023 ⤵️ Blurting is a very popular study technique that involves reviewing a piece of content (e.g. from your textbook) and then trying to write down as much information as you can remember. 📚 However, blurting is not a study strategy backed by scientific research. 🚨 WHY BLURTING DOESN’T WORK 🚨 - It targets your short term memory instead of long term memory. - It promotes shallow encoding rather than deep encoding. -It is not useful for more conceptual or complex topics. WHAT TO DO INSTEAD: 1️⃣ You need to focus on strategies that improve your long-term memory rather than short-term memory. So, don’t try to recall content immediately after you have reviewed it as that is just testing your short-term memory. 2️⃣ Start recalling information (called retrieval practice) BEFORE you review content (instead of after). Here are the steps. - learn the content. - wait a day - then, write down everything you remember on a page - then review content and the parts you noticed that you didn’t remember well. 3️⃣ Space out your study sessions. Instead of repeatedly ‘blurting’ or reviewing content, space your study sessions out over days and weeks. Long-term memory strength 📈📈 🌱 Was this information new to you?
