🥖 Bread Storage… I think I finally cracked the code. I’ve struggled with this more than I expected. 1. I had a cute metal bread box… that somehow turned into an onion graveyard. 2. I tried the little brown paper bags… but making bread regularly made that feel wasteful. 3. I bought a linen bag… loved the idea, but my bread went stale almost immediately because there was no lining. Then I found THIS. A linen bread bag lined with beeswax… and I think we have a winner!!! Here’s why it works: Beeswax is naturally breathable but protective. It creates a light moisture barrier that: A) Helps retain just enough humidity so your bread doesn’t dry out B) Still allows airflow so condensation doesn’t build up C) Reduces exposure to air, which slows staling D) Has natural antibacterial properties Regular linen alone lets too much air in. Plastic traps too much moisture… but beeswax lining gives you that sweet spot in between. I’ve had a loaf in this bag for a couple of days now and it’s still soft and fresh- not dry, not soggy.
