While this tip doesn’t capture specific points in reflexology, I highlight the important of getting to know your feet, especially between the toes, it will still stimulate the nerves and encourage blood flow in restricted areas. ♥️This tip will target the Chinese acupuncture channels: liver, spleen, stomach, kidney, bladder, and gallbladder, all which work together and are responsible for not just foot pain relief, but regulating stress, digestion, and sleep. Bunion Recovery: Part 3 👣 Oof this update was a really hard one for me to make. I’m officially in the part of my healing where it’s all about patience, and if you knew me personally, you’d know that I have none 😂 I knew this process was going to be tough, but I wasn’t prepared for how much it’d affect me mentally and emotionally. Even though I’m finally allowed to be back on my feet and doing normal things (with some adjustments), the apparatus that allows me to walk also causes me SO. MUCH. PAIN. Annoyingly, the pressure from the compression clips have been the *only* part of my recovery that has caused any sort of pain, so that’s something to be grateful for. I’m glad I waited to make this update, because I spent a lot of the last 3 months feeling frustrated and sorry for myself (so this would’ve been a very different, much more negative video), but now that I’m more than halfway done, I can look back in hindsight and appreciate the experience. I mean, when else am I going to be able to take advantage of VIP wheelchair access at the airport? 😜 As of today, I should only have 2.5 more months to go! 🙌🏻 Thank you so much for following my journey. I’m blown away by the overwhelming support I’ve received in the comments and DMs, and even connected with a few people who are also recovering from bunion surgery or about to get it. A bunion is the change in angel occurring at the 1st MTP joint, primarily due to environmental, mechanical and metabolic factors, NOT genetics. Now, lets take an even broader look at the world we live in… If you were born within the last 300,000 years, and you grew up in the U.S. and you are a woman, the chances of you having a bunion are much greater than others. Why? Because of the shoes we wear. Because of the activities we participate it. Think about it, from the moment we can start walking, sometimes even sooner, our parents are putting our feet into SHOES. Shoes which have tapered toe boxes and in no way reflect the actual shape of the child’s foot. The society, culture, family, neighborhood we grow up in, influence what we put on our feet, and how we choose to move our bodies. There is NO gene in the human genome associated with bunions like you would find for eye and hair color. There ARE genes related to foot shape, bone structure, metabolic diseases, all of which can contribute to developing a bunion. Bunions are not genetic. Foot shape is. These are different. A bunion is the deviation of the big toe (sometime little one) on the foot. A bunion is not genetic. A bunion is not inherited, foot shape is. Genetics CAN put you at higher risk of developing foot deformities like this but THIS is a STABILITY issue. ✅ You have a HUGE influence over your tissue quality and your joint health. ❤️THIS is my mom, so I need to fIGHT this. ⚠️In all honesty, we all need to fight this. Genetics is one thing, but modern footwear that does not respected the anatomy of our feet has led to weak , tight , sensitized feet and resulted in foot deformities and pathology that are at epidemic proportions. ( FYI this change in footwear only started in the 1960s. Up until then even distance runners and Olympians used flat unsupportive shoes) Let’s have a look at what’s going on and how to fight it. 💡This is foot gripping, your body locking down because you are lacking stability. Bunions can cause pain, redness, and rubbing in shoes because the big toe gradually drifts toward the second toe. One simple way to help support the joint is K-taping. This taping technique gently pulls the big toe into a straighter position and may help reduce pressure and irritation during the day. In this video, the tape: • anchors on the top and inside of the big toe joint • wraps around the big toe with gentle tension • pulls down toward the inside of the joint to guide the toe straighter • is reinforced with a second strip and a final anchor • rub the tape—especially at the ends—to activate the adhesive so it stays on longer K-taping doesn’t fix the bunion itself, but it can provide temporary support and relief, especially in shoes.
