Burmese Pythons actually have SIX rows of teeth, 4 on top, 2 on the bottom. MIThe Burmese python (Python bivittatus) is a fascinating species, but it is often misunderstood. Here are some common misconceptions:
1. They Are Aggressive
While they are powerful constrictors, Burmese pythons are generally docile, especially captive-bred individuals. They may bite if threatened, but they usually rely on constriction rather than aggression.
2. They Are Venomous
Burmese pythons are non-venomous. They kill their prey by constriction, not by injecting venom.
3. They Can Unhinge Their Jaws
Snakes do not actually “unhinge” their jaws. Instead, their lower jawbones are connected by a flexible ligament, allowing them to stretch their mouths wide enough to swallow large prey.
4. They Are Native to Florida
Burmese pythons are native to Southeast Asia, not Florida. The invasive population in the Florida Everglades is the result of escaped or released pet pythons.
5. They Are Slow and Clumsy
Despite their size, Burmese pythons are surprisingly agile swimmers and climbers. They can also strike with impressive speed when hunting.
6. They Are the Largest Snake in the World
While they are among the largest snakes, the green anaconda (Eunectes murinus) holds the record for the heaviest, and the reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) is often considered the longest.
7. They Will Chase and Attack Humans
Burmese pythons do not actively hunt humans. Attacks are extremely rare and usually occur when people provoke or mishandle them.
8. They Can Eat Anything, Even Humans
While they have been known to consume large prey like deer and alligators, attacks on humans are almost unheard of in the wild. Their diet mainly consists of birds, mammals, and reptiles.
9. They Reproduce Rapidly Like Insects
Although they lay large clutches (up to 100 eggs), their reproduction is limited by environmental conditions and food availability.
10. They Are Indestructible
While they are hardy and adaptable, Burmese pythons are still vulnerable to extreme cold, starvation, and predation, especially when young.

JAHow long do you think this girl is?😳 This girl is a Burmese python and one of the biggest I have ever had🙌 Unlike Reticulated pythons, Burmese pythons don’t get as long but they do tend to be a lot thicker similar to anacondas😱 She measured a little over 18 feet🤯 That is huge for a Burmese python and this girl easily weighed over 300 pounds👀 She is a very beautiful and sweet snake and wouldn’t even react to me helping her get rid of an eye cap😁

D_Ms. Miyagi is our albino Burmese python!! She loves eating all kinds of food but her favorite that we feed her are jumbo rats! We decided to feed her in a different location than her normal feeding spot because we wanted to get her enrichment in a different surrounding.
Did you know Burmese pythons are incase down in the Florida Everglades?! People would get these snakes as babies and keep them as pets until they realized they can get all the way up to 19 feet! So they would release them into the wilds of Florida. This is not good at all! If you have a pet you can no longer take care of please don’t release it into the wild find a sanctuary or another suitable home to take in the animal!
