Me: freezes eggs to postpone having babies — goes trekking through an impenetrable forest in Uganda a week later to see gorilla babies instead 🦍😻 This was my 4th gorilla trek and it’s still so incredible each time! Especially since my group was randomly assigned to the Mishaya gorill family, who just had a newborn gorilla! He was about 10 days old when we were there! 😻 Also, this trek was amazing because it was only 4.5 hours total (with one of the hours spent observing the gorillas)…as opposed to last year when I got stuck in the 7 hour trek.. 🫣 Although this video looks serene, the trek through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is extreme, as there’s no paths and you have to climb up and down mountains that are thick with brush. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart! And yes, gorillas can be dangerous, but I’ve never heard of any incidents here with guests! All 28 of us on my group trip saw gorillas! Is one of your dreams to see them? Next year might be our last year hosting this trip! The baby is only a few months old and is clearly at that stage where everything is a toy—including mom’s patience! 😂 ​Watching her pull the baby close for a cuddle after it tried to climb a vine three times its size was a moment of absolute tenderness. You forget the hours of hiking, the muddy boots, and the dense brush. In that moment, it’s just you and this beautiful family, sharing a connection that feels both ancient and incredibly familiar. ​This is why we protect them. Nos sumamos al trend 🥹❤️ Hacer trekking para ver gorilas de montaña salvajes en el Parque Nacional Impenetrable de Bwindi ha sido una de las experiencias más increíbles de nuestra vida. Un trekking de unas 6 horas en total… con emociones a flor de piel. Nervios, sin aliento, con dudas de si los verás… de si merece tanto la pena estar en ese momento allí. Y entonces todo cambia… El guía y los rastreadores se detienen. Nos piden ponernos la mascarilla. Los hemos encontrado. De repente la jungla se queda en silencio… fijas la mirada… y allí están 🥺 Toda una familia de gorilas de montaña salvajes. A solo unos metros. Sin barreras. Sin nada que os separe. Solo nosotros y ellos 🦍 Automáticamente todo el cansancio se va. Nuestro corazón late fuerte y no damos crédito de lo que estamos viendo. La naturaleza, la paz, la majestuosidad del gorila. It’s hard to put into words what it’s like to spend time with gorillas in their natural environment. Deep in the forest. The effort it takes to get there. The smells of the forest. The sounds. The stillness. The presence. It is truly incredible. This morning’s encounter with the Katwe family in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest was exceptional. An incredible, incredible experience. I’m sharing one short reel here that captures just a single moment from an hour that was nothing short of magical. Without doubt one of the best gorilla encounters I’ve ever had. I feel very blessed. Very happy. Very lucky. And deeply grateful for such an exceptional time with this family. It’s only through responsible tourism that these gorillas and these forests have been protected. A powerful example of how tourism, when done right, can be an overwhelmingly positive force. Long may it continue here. Without it, these forests would perish and so would the gorillas. So well done to everyone who chooses to travel here and support this conservation success story. Uganda wildlife conservation are doing a great job to conserve the Forrest and endangered gorillas . @nidocommunity initiative to protect wildlife is what brought here. The wilds of Uganda has been amazing. I’ve been learning first hand how they are working with conservationists and their families on the front line protecting everything from elephants to precious tree lions and gorillas in Bwindi forest. There is not one simple solution but a 360 degree approach has been taken, working in tandem with other partners, local farmers and villages to ensure poaching becomes a thing of the past and the next generation are able to be proud of their heritage. #wewantpeace #protectourwildlife #uganda #queenelizabethnationalpark #bwindi #education #emmanueljal
