The rain may have been relentless, but it’s brought the colour back with it. The course is greening up, and the first flashes of yellow gorse are starting to show.

MACabot Citrus Farms 🍊
⛳️ Karoo & Roost are the 2-18 hole courses both tipping out at over 7500 yards. There are some monster holes in this course including this 292 yard par 3, and a few par 4’s over 500 yards with some large greens with a lot of slope and tiers. The tradeoff here is the course is fairly wide open, you’ll just likely have to deal with some waste bunkers especially on Karoo.
⛳️ They have a short 10 hole course and a 9 hole par 3 course which I always like to use to get acquainted with the new grass and altitude.
⛳️ There is a massive chipping, pitching area, and putting green that stays lit to practice even when the sun goes down, as well as a Trackman Range 🟧
🚶♂️ The course encourages walking which I love, any ‘cart path’ is made of dirt or sand or sometimes non existent. Admittedly I did get lost a couple times because it’s not that obvious the direction to the next tee when I didn’t have a caddie guiding me.
⛳️ My caddie John was impressive and had a lot of course insights and golf knowledge.
🍔 Some really good food & my only real complaint was the range was mats only 2 days in a row.

COWhy Royal Porthcawl Golf Club is such a great course.
There are no towering dunes separating you from the sea. Instead, the Bristol Channel is visible - and felt - from almost every hole. The wind never leaves. It simply changes direction.
The routing is compact but endlessly varied. The opening stretch builds quietly before the course turns outward and fully exposes you to the elements. The closing holes are among the strongest in Britain, with long par 4s that demand proper ball-striking rather than theatre.
It has hosted multiple Senior Opens and the 2014 Amateur Championship. It’s consistently ranked inside the world’s top courses. Yet it still feels understated.
Firm turf. Constant wind. No hiding place.
