My big campaign announcement for 2026 is this… A lot of you have been so kind as to encourage me to run for State Senate. The assembly District that I represent , my home, is entirely inside the Senate district. However, our collective energy ought to be dedicated to resisting authoritarianism and building a California that is a model for the rest of the nation. We need hope and we need results that progressive values turn into a society where everyone can and thrive not just struggle to get by. As Chair of the legislative progressive caucus, we have a lot of work to do. I will be running for reelection to my fourth term in the California state assembly. Every day is an incredibly surreal honor to fight for you and I won’t let up the fight. Especially now that we must defend our freedoms against fascism on all fronts. Stay safe out there and I’ll see you in community! #caleg

Today is #RareDiseaseDay — a day that is deeply personal for me and my family. My sister Jackie was diagnosed with ALS in 2017, and I watched her fight every day until her passing in 2020. I also saw her struggle to navigate a medical system that too often puts barriers between patients and the care they need. That experience is why I’ve made rare disease advocacy a priority in the Legislature. This past week, I joined advocates, patients, and families at the Capitol to share details about my bill #AB1887, which would end prior authorization and “fail-first” requirements for FDA-approved rare disease treatments prescribed by an appropriate specialist. We must do better—for Jackie, and for every family still fighting. #RareDiseaseDay #PatientsFirst #Caleg

I am proud to share that AB 2109 passed through the Assembly Judiciary Committee with unanimous support. This legislation was drafted in reaction to the problematic administration of the February 2025 Bar Examination. The February 2025 Bar Examination was rife with issues, including constant software crashes, inability to connect to the online testing platform, inability to save essay answers, screen lags, consistent error messages and poor technical support. To prevent a situation like this from ever happening again, AB 2109 will direct the California State Bar to adopt the National Conference of Bar Examiners’ Uniform Bar Examination (UBE), or any successor or replacement of that exam. By requiring a switch to this exam, we can provide test takers with confidence that the administration of the Bar Examination will meet the high standards expected of the California State Bar. Stay tuned as AB 2109 moves through the legislative process! #caleg #AD72
