BIThis is Alana, a 6.5 year old girl who lives with #Canavan disease — a rare genetic disorder that takes away her ability to control her body
Alana cannot sit, walk or hold things on her own, and experiences severe muscle stiffness and joint tension. But she feels. She understands. She loves when her parents are close, when someone sings to her, holds her hands, or takes her for a walk. Yet every day, her family and specialists fight for one simple thing — for her body to stay without pain💔
Sessions focused on joint relaxation are an important part of therapy.
Focal Muscle Vibration (FMV) is the rehabilitation approach using soft balls, vibration cushions, and guided movement to gently stimulate specific muscles and joints.
How FMV works:
✅ Gentle mobilization
Soft rolling of therapy balls stretches joints and muscles without causing pain
✅ Vibration therapy
Cushions with mild vibration provide sensory stimulation that helps reduce muscle tone and spasticity
✅ Multisensory effect
The combination of pressure and vibration improves circulation, body awareness, and overall relaxation
✅ Foundation for progress
Relaxed muscles respond better to further physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and daily care routines
Overall, repeated FMV sessions in children with neurological disorders showed up to 40% reduction in muscle spasticity.
