BECascade Amflow link install
I've been Been keen for a bit more travel ever since I got my Amflow over a year ago.
This link by Cascade Components increases the stock rear wheel travel from 150mm to 160mm by increasing the leverage on the shock.
The link also increases the frame progression from 21 to 27%, which I was a little sceptical about on paper, but it is still relatively easy to use full travel with a coil with a shade under 30% sag.
The CNC machined Cascade link looks way better than the stock cast aluminium link and results in a smoother, more comfortable ride by being able to use more travel. It also increases traction especially for climbing rough terrain, but the trade off is losing a bit of support from the damper, so you're likely to want to run a little more LSC.
Fitment, this is the part I was pretty surprised with, as I ended up shimming all three pivots on both sides by between 0.3 and 0.4mm. This may not sound like much, but in a heavily braced area, it's a long way to push the inner race of the bearings to meet the frame and will cause a huge amount of excess preload on the pivot bearings and stress on the clevis joint to pinch the pivot spacers at the top of the seat stay.
Cascades' response was, "if it fit your frame precisely, it wouldn't fit another frame" (due to inconsistencies in manufacturing) which in my experience (I've checked a fair few of these frames) and found I'm lucky to be able to fit a single 0.2mm shim anywhere.
If you've ordered one of these links, I would get yourself some 0.2mm and 0.3mm, 10mm and 12mm I.D shims and shim as required. It will massively increase performance and longevity of the bearings and reduce stress on the seat stay clevis joint.
