✨Cat Command✨ In this video I’m going to show you something cool. In this room there are simulators but also a Cat Command station. Caterpillar has a system that gives operators from all around the globe, a possibility to operate machines remotely from a station. Which means, the operators don’t have to be anywhere near the machine that is being operated. And I went to look at it a few weeks ago. With no operator in the cab, it makes it possible to perform a job in areas that present a degree of risk, completely safe. Like I said, you can be anywhere; at the office, in another city, country or even on the other side of the globe. And the system really improves efficiency and productivity. Operators who are not so agile anymore, far away or with disabilities are still able to do the job like anyone else when accessing the station much more easily. I explained what Cat Command is to a guy who wasn’t really a fan and thought it would remove operator jobs. And he didn’t seem to worry about his job after that, but didn’t like the idea of sitting inside the remote console and station. He said he could just work in an office instead if he wanted. Maybe it’s not for everybody but: 1. We need the operators and 2. You might not be working from a station at all times. It’s just an option that allows operation on job sites that might present some risks, or to operate somewhere more convenient. There is nothing else we all want more, than to come home safe to our families and friends.
