MAAre we overreacting to childhood wounds? Or are we finally understanding how much they shaped us?
A New York Times article blames therapy culture for the rise in estrangement and childlessness, saying we're too quick to cut off our parents and too afraid to become them. But here’s the problem with that narrative: it misses how deep these wounds really go. And it completely skips over how healing actually works.
Naming your pain doesn’t mean you’re broken. But staying stuck in it might mean something needs to shift, because healing isn’t about blaming, it’s about becoming whole.
It’s not about growing up and pretending it didn’t hurt. It’s about doing the work to make sure it doesn’t keep hurting.
You don’t have to lower the bar. You just need a better path to it.
