SOWhat happens when you pour too soon. 😭
Story time! While most of you are busy selling soaps at holiday markets, I've been working on what *should* be a simple tutorial on how to control trace (the rate that soap batter sets up) and recognize when the soap is ready to pour. Except it hasn't been simple!!!
First recording went "fine" but there was some pertinent info that I forgot to include, so I thought I'd try it again. This is my second try. Definitely failed to recognize when it was ready to pour.
On to my third try! Oh no. One color traced faster than the other two. Now I've failed to control trace!
Tomorrow....yes, tomorrow I will be making my fourth attempt. I've learned something with every batch. For what it's worth, I will share my best practices that *usually* work. But it's still a chemical reaction with a variety of factors and sometimes they don't react as expected!
I understand these incidents are not uncommon, so if you are also experiencing unexpected results in your soapmaking, feel free to vent in the comments!!

GENTLE BABY SOAP🍼🐣👶but first SAVE!

INGREDIENTS
Fats, oils and butters
210 grams chamomile infused olive oil (you can use just olive oil)
180 grams shea butter
90 grams palm oil ( substitute with coconut oil if you don't want sustainable palm oil, must run through lye calculator)
60 grams avocado oil
60 grams castor oil
74 grams lye (sodium hydroxide)
228 grams cold aloe vera gel ( you can also use distilled water)
This recipe is superfated at 8% instead of 5%.
This recipe makes about 6-7 bars of natural soap.
