JEI finished the prep jug, mentally prepared for my bowels to erupt… but instead? I spent the evening watching Korean mukbangs and ASMR, while my delirious self debated making thank-you gifts for the surgery staff and even bedazzling my two holes.🤣

This was filmed yesterday, didn’t get to do a same-day check-in because I had to jump straight into Mom Mode after the procedures while still fighting off the anesthesia (10/10 don’t recommend… but it was the best nap I’ve had in a long time lol).
Procedure took a little longer than expected, but everything went well. Onward to the next part of this health journey, babes!🙌🏼

If you haven’t, you might be wondering if you should.
Here are some general tips:
If you’re struggling with GI issues - pain, abnormal bowel habits, including constipation or diarrhea, you should see a doctor.
Many GI docs will recommend a colonoscopy if:
•you’re 45 years old or older
•you have symptoms consistent with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis - blood in stool, rectal bleeding, sudden change in bowel habits
•a family history of colorectal cancer
Ultimately, your doctor will use clinical judgement to determine if you should get a colonoscopy.
Colonoscopies are literally life saving. Many cases of colorectal cancer can be cured because of early detection by colonoscopy.
When in doubt, see your doctor!

DRI already empathized with my elderly patients when prepping them for their colonoscopy especially those that had trouble walking but now I’ve unlocked a new level.
Let’s prep for my first ever colonoscopy on the other side as a nurse.
First things first… the prep is brutal 😩 and on top of that you can’t eat so your hangry. I’ll I could have was clears as in liquid broth, jello etc the day prior.
I ain’t gone lie I wanted to quit half way in but then I remembered I’d have to start the entire process over and lord knows I didn’t want to do that.
Anyway we made it! The doctor told me he removed a polyp because they are know to grow into cancer after a few years.
So here’s your reminder to schedule go ahead and schedule yours if you are 45 or older or sooner if you have a family history of colorectal cancer.
