BLHow do we support our community during a crisis? Let’s get Smarter in Seconds!
A community is any collection of people who support or care for one another and may share geography, identity, or experiences. You might not know or look like everyone in your community, but if you’re alive, you’re probably part of one!
Helping after a crisis can take countless forms. Think about what you do best or what you enjoy doing and how you can apply that to supporting your community. Do you love to cook? Cook and deliver meals or join a meal distribution service. Do you love to read? Offer to host a storytime or join a book drive.
Donations are also a vital part of community support - but remember a crisis is not the time to clear your closet or pantry of trash that’s been gathering dust.
Think locally, too. Supporting disasters in another state or country is an IMPORTANT and beautiful thing to do, but remember to also think about what’s happening in your own neighborhood.

DAjewish community and governments throughout history has been long complex and often shaped by social political and religious forces in ancient times the jewish people were governed by their own systems of law centered around the torah and temple life in jerusalem but after the destruction of their state and the beginning of the diaspora they lived under the rule of many different empires such as the babylonians the romans and later the european kingdoms during these times jewish communities often had to balance loyalty to local rulers with their own religious traditions and identity they were sometimes allowed to manage their own internal affairs through community councils known as kehillas but at other times they faced discrimination exclusion and violence depending on the political climate and the tolerance of the rulers
in modern times jewish participation in government has evolved as societies have become more democratic and open with the rise of secular states in europe and later the creation of israel many jewish individuals began to take active roles in politics law and public service around the world in countries such as the united states france and the united kingdom jewish politicians diplomats and thinkers have contributed to shaping policies in areas like human rights social justice and education at the same time conspiracy theories have unfairly accused jewish people of secretly controlling governments and financial systems which are baseless and harmful such ideas have fueled antisemitism and misunderstanding for centuries the truth is that jewish involvement in government is as diverse as any other group shaped by personal values experience and commitment to public service not by any collective agenda the story of jews and government is therefore one of resilience contribution and the ongoing struggle against prejudice while continuing to seek fair representation and equality
