Eileen Gu, the team China free skier, is the highest paid of all athletes who competed at the Olympic Games. But after winning gold on Sunday in the free ski halfpipe she also took us on a trip inside her brain. Looking for an impressive role model? It would be hard to go past Eileen. #olympics #milanocortina #freeski

1) Olympic-Level Athlete I have literally seen applicants who competed at the Olympics or at a national elite level in their sport. Even if it is not the Olympics, being at that high level shows insane discipline, time management, and resilience. Med schools know you cannot fake that kind of long term commitment. 2) Working with Incarcerated Populations Some applicants spent years volunteering or working inside prisons or with formerly incarcerated individuals. That kind of experience exposes you to complex social and health inequities that most premeds never see. It shows maturity, empathy, and a willingness to work with underserved communities in a very real way. 3) Chef or Catering Business Owner I have seen people who were professional chefs or started their own catering businesses before medicine. Running a food business takes leadership, customer service skills, and the ability to perform under pressure. It also makes for amazing interview stories because it is so different from the typical research assistant path. 4) Years of Industry Experience as an Engineer or Computer Scientist Some applicants worked full time in tech or engineering for years before applying. That depth of industry experience shows problem solving, teamwork, and real world accountability. It also brings a totally different perspective to medicine, especially with how important technology is becoming in healthcare. 5) Content Creator Yes, I have seen serious content creators with large platforms apply to med school. Building an audience requires communication skills, consistency, and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly. When done thoughtfully, it can show leadership and impact beyond your immediate circle. At the end of the day, do not just copy these. Unique does not automatically mean good or bad, it just helps you stand out from a sea of similar applications. These are just examples to show how creative you can be with extracurriculars. The best activities are the ones you are genuinely interested in, even if you have never heard of anyone else doing something like that before. #premed #premedstudent #premedadvice #mcat #medicalschool

I was like wait a minuteee I love this part☺️ Alysa represents every skater that has taken time from the sport and came back on their own terms!✨🕺🏿🫶🏿 My story… I took a 7 year break. never stepping on the ice…came back and competed this program just for fun! (This program is from a couple years ago) My mentality was the similar to Alysa, you couldn’t tell me nothing about training,practicing..etc, I just did it because I wanted to share my version of the sport! This part of my program was my favorite!! So to that her similar style is the worlds favorite is so cool 🤩 CHEERS TO OUR CHAMPION @alysaxliu 🫶🏿☺️ @davido Electricty & Stand Strong 🎶 #adultskater #figureskating #fyp #winterolympics

As someone who competes in a space where only a few spots exist… I know how easy it would be to shrink, compare, or resent. But the women I’ve competed alongside have always chosen support over ego. This is women in sports. If you’re in the arena and still choosing grace — we see you.

Simone Biles of the United States competed in her third Olympic Games at the 2024 Paris Olympics. During qualifications she injured her calf muscle when she went to punch on floor during warm ups. She could be seen limping around the arena but continued her competition qualifying first into all around, floor, beam, vault and team finals. 🏁 Interesting fact: Turbo — This animated movie is loosely inspired by the real-life racing snail Theo, who competed in the Indianapolis 500, showing that the idea wasn’t completely made up. The film follows a normal garden snail who gains super speed after a freak accident, turning him into a racing underdog chasing an impossible dream. Despite being about snails, Turbo was praised for its high-energy racing scenes and message about ambition, proving even the slowest creatures can aim for something big.

In a fun promotional event aboard a zero-gravity flight, retired sprint legend Usain Bolt competed in a race under near-weightless conditions. The plane, an Airbus Zero-G over France, created short periods of zero gravity, causing participants to float as they tried to move. Despite the unusual conditions making it difficult to run normally, Bolt still won the race, “floating” to the finish ahead of his challengers. The event was part of a light-hearted experience showcasing movement in zero gravity and was shared in a video by Bolt himself.

Best athlete out there! This video is from the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, where Jeffrey Julmis, a talented hurdler from Haiti, competed in the semifinals of the 110m hurdles. Before the race, Jeffrey was full of energy and confidence. But when the starting gun fired, he clipped the first hurdle and fell. What happened next is truly inspiring - Jeffrey got back up, cleared every remaining hurdle, and sprinted to the finish line, earning a standing ovation from the crowd. It's a reminder that winning isn't just about the medal, but about the heart you show when things get tough. 😭 #meme #funnyreels #fyp #movie #trending

Today I competed at the IBJJF European Championships and unfortunately got disqualified after throwing up mid-match. I was winning with about 40 seconds left, so it’s a tough way for it to end. I felt good physically and wasn’t fatigued, but I guess stuff just happens out of your control. It hurts to lose this way, but all I can do is keep working and keep improving. Grateful for everyone who tuned in and continues to support my journey. On to the next. ❤️🙏 Still can’t believe this happened 😂

At the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan Russian figure skater Petr Gumennik competed in the men’s singles event as a neutral athlete. Despite being one of the strongest contenders, he faced several difficulties: his original music choice for the short program from the film Perfume was banned very late due to rights issues, forcing him to change the music just days before his performance. He skated well, moving from 12th in the short program to 4th in the free skate, and finished 6th overall, a strong result under pressure. Despite his performance, he was not invited to the exhibition gala, which is usually reserved for medalists and selected skaters. Throughout it all, Gumennik stayed composed and focused, showing resilience on the Olympic stage.
