Finally visited this spot after hearing great things about it for ages! They do SO MANY VEGAN PASTRIES + have a menu that’s mostly vegan, made by a Michelin star chef ⭐️ 📍 (adpr invite) @britishpatagonia is located on Upper Street in Islington (nearest station is Highbury & Islington, but Angel isn’t far either) - and despite being on a busy road, it feels like a little bit of calm away from the chaos of the capital. With proper little quiet cafe vibes - it’s perfect for friends meeting for a meal, families catching up, a solo hot drink pick me up, and even a handful of quiet workers on their laptops. 🥐 almost all of their pastries are vegan - we tried the Sausage Roll, Ferrero Rocher Crown (+ took the Pecan Pan Suisse + Pain Au Chocolat away with us). The pastries were light, yet full of flavour - the Ferrero Rocher Crown was a personal fave - so creamy and nutty, yet somehow the pastry wasn’t soggy & soft? Delish! 🥪 during the day they do brunch & sandwich options, and hot drinks including an incredibly rich vegan hot chocolate that I absolutely adored! 🍕 they also so pizza Thurs-Sun 6pm-10.30pm (alongside cocktails btw), AND during the day on Sundays they do a vegan roast (v keen to go back and try both soon!) They’re warm and fresh, light and moist, and I promise you would never guess they’re vegan or gluten-free!! I’M GOING VEGAN for one day to see if it will help me make small lifestyle changes. 🌱 In this mini-series, I discover if I can swap out my usual dairy and meat containing ingredient for a vegan alternative. (don’t forget to watch part 1) Whilst not a conventional lunch choice, I thought it would be good to sample vegan treats as I am a firm believer in the treat yo self philosophy 🙌 plus? I was getting a lil sleepy after that lavender tea so time for some coffee! Only one place came immediately to my mind and that was @chapteronecoffee - a 100% vegan cafe on Dalry Road in Edinburgh. REASONS TO LOVE @chapteronecoffee 1️⃣ girl boss business - a female owned cafe and a safe space for all 2️⃣ Micro Roaster - the coffee they sell is from their OWN micro roastery, and all of the coffee is roasted and produced by women! 3️⃣ it’s completely vegan, not a sniff of even a semi-skimmed here, so very good for our planet and our animals Whilst the glass cabinet full of filled croissants and bagels looked pretty delicious, the marble cake under the cloche was the one that drew my eye. I ordered an oat latte to accompany. The marble cake was a delicious swirl of vanilla and chocolate cake, with some crunchy nuts mixed in to the batter which comolement d the soft pillowy sponge beautifully. Thr buttercream was sweet and moteish but somehow felt light and refreshing. The oat latte definitely had me condjeringnwhether dairy alternatives would be an easy first switch for me - it was really quite delicious and had more depth than my usual cows milk. This place definitely gave me food for thought - there is no reason cake can’t be delicious despite having no eggs or milk 💚 #veganedinburgh #plantbasededinburgh #plantbasedliving #vegansofinstagram #vegancake
