Total Space Launches by Country - This video visualizes the cumulative number of objects launched into space by the world’s major countries from 1957 to 2024 — including satellites, probes, landers, crewed spacecraft, and space station modules. Data comes from the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and is processed by Our World in Data. Each country is color-coded — blue for the United States, white for Russia, red for China, and others. Watch how the global space race evolves over decades, including a turning point in 2019, when the US pulls significantly ahead of Russia. 📊 Key Facts: Over 20,000 objects launched globally by 2024 The US leads with more than 11,000 recorded launches Most launched objects are satellites Data reflects about 88% of all space launches reported to the UN 🎥 Note: The size of objects has been scaled for visibility, and the animation does not reflect the real trajectories or motion of space launches. It is a symbolic and data-driven representation of launch totals over time.

Artemis 3 is NASA’s third mission under the Artemis program, aimed at landing humans on the Moon. It is part of the agency’s broader objective of establishing a sustainable lunar presence by the late 2020s. Artemis 3 will see the first crewed lunar landing since the Apollo missions in the 1960s and 1970s. The mission is expected to include a diverse crew, including the first woman to set foot on the Moon. It will utilize the Orion spacecraft and the lunar lander, allowing scientists to explore new regions of the Moon and conduct scientific investigations that will deepen our understanding of Earth’s satellite Like our content? When the Space Shuttle returned from orbit, it came down like a glider rather than a powered aircraft. After reentering Earth’s atmosphere at hypersonic speed, its heat shield absorbed the immense frictional heat. The shuttle then followed a series of precise banking turns to bleed off speed, descending steeply compared to commercial jets. It had no engines to throttle up for a second try—landing had to be perfect on the first attempt. Pilots took manual control in the final minutes, guiding it toward a 15,000-foot runway at either Kennedy Space Center or Edwards Air Force Base. Touchdown happened at over 200 mph, the fastest of any crewed aircraft landing, with a drag chute deployed to slow the orbiter as it rolled to a stop. #engine #plane #space #explore

The Moon is calling. On Nov. 16, 2022, the Orion spacecraft launched aboard the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket from @NASAKennedy Space Center and embarked on the #Artemis I mission to the Moon and back. Orion orbited the Moon, getting as close as 79 miles (127 km) to the lunar surface, and successfully splashed back down to Earth 25.5 days later on Dec. 11. Four RS-25 engines and two five-segment solid rocket boosters provided more than 8.8 million pounds (4 million kg) of thrust for SLS during liftoff and flight. Thanks in part to development of a new RS-25 engine controller that checks engine health 50 times per second, engineers were able to collect more than 100 measurements on pressures, temperatures, flows, speeds, and vibrations on the four RS-25 engines that helped power Artemis I. The preliminary post-flight data indicates that all SLS systems performed exceptionally and that the designs are ready to support a crewed flight on Artemis II. The Artemis II mission will bring us closer to establishing a sustained human presence on the lunar surface and landing the first woman and the first person of color on the Moon. This video was captured from the Launch Pad 39B perimeter and was used by engineers to monitor and track the rocket during flight. The United States’ X-plane program has long served as an incubator for the nation’s most daring aerospace experiments, pushing the boundaries of speed, control, and flight concepts. The North American X-15, introduced in 1959, remains a pinnacle of rocket-powered research, reaching speeds over Mach 6 and altitudes above 50 miles—blurring the line between atmosphere and space. Its data laid the groundwork for the Space Shuttle and hypersonic research. The Martin-Marietta X-24B of the 1970s tested the concept of re-entry vehicles that could glide to precise landings without wings. This research directly influenced later spacecraft like the Shuttle Orbiter and modern crewed spaceplane proposals. In the 1980s, the forward-swept-wing Grumman X-29 challenged conventional design wisdom. Its advanced composite materials and fly-by-wire control system enabled agility impossible for traditional aircraft, influencing later fighter development. The Rockwell/MBB X-31, flying in the early 1990s, pushed maneuverability even further, pioneering thrust vectoring in combat aircraft. The dawn of the 21st century brought new forms and missions. Boeing’s X-32 competed in the Joint Strike Fighter program, exploring STOVL solutions. The McDonnell Douglas X-36, a tailless unmanned demonstrator, advanced stealth and agility research, while the Northrop Grumman X-47B marked a leap into carrier-based unmanned combat aviation. From the X-15’s rocket-flights to the X-47B’s unmanned precision, the X-plane series reflects a persistent American drive to test the untested. These aircraft are less about production models and more about answers to questions no one else dared to ask—each one a stepping stone toward the aerospace capabilities of tomorrow. #aviation #aviationlovers #aviationgeek #avgeek #plane #airplane #aircraft #pilot #militaryaviation #fighterjet #fighterpilot #fighteraircraft

Sending the first humans to Mars would cost NASA around $450 billion. With $600 billion of annual funding, a crewed mission to the red planet would become NASA’s next “Apollo” very quickly. We’d build a human colony on the Moon, turning it into a base for our trips to deep space. It would also serve as a blueprint for Mars colonization. We’d move up the launch date on the Europa Clipper – a mission to Jupiter’s smallest moon in search of signs of alien life in the ocean of liquid water beneath its icy shell. . #relativity #cosmos #spaceandtime #space #universe #quantummechanics #bigbang #outerspace #spacetraveler #hubble #nasa #eventhorizon #spacex #theoreticalphysics #blackhole #milkyway #spacefacts #astronomy #astrophysics #cosmology

Airspeeder @airspeeder prepares for crewed eVTOL racing with Mk4 design reveal ✈️ ____________ 📽️Credits via @airspeeder All Credits goes to their respective owners 📷 ____________ For Aviation Follow 👉@airspeeder 👉@globalaviation0 ____________ Following more than 350 test flights and two demonstration races of its remotely piloted Airspeeder Mk3 eVTOL, Alauda Aeronautics has revealed the design for the first crewed racer – which boasts a top speed of 360 km/h and a range of 300 km.Back in 2017, Australia's Matt Pearson launched a Kickstarter that proposed building manned electric vertical take-off and landing – or eVTOL – racing machines and creating a new aerial sport around them. The Alauda Aeronautics team canceled the campaign after only attracting 49 backers, but vowed to continue development.Airspeeder made its international public debut in 2019, and launched a full-sized working prototype in early 2021. After lots and lots of testing and tweaking, a remotely piloted drag race later that year was followed in 2022 by an uncrewed EAX Series head-to-head around a kilometer-long circuit near Adelaide. Now the renders for the first crewed eVTOL racer, the Mk4, have landed and reveal a complete redesign. Full details are still to come, but we do know that the new racing eVTOL measures 5.73 m long (18.79 ft), 3.62 m wide (11.87 ft) and 1.44 m high (4.72 ft), and tips the scales at 950 kg (2,094 lb).✈️ ____________ #airspeeder #alaudaaeronautics #globalaviation0 #lordofaviation #aviation #avia #aviacao #aviationlovers #aviationphotography #aviationdaily #vtol #vtolaircraft #verticaltakeoff #verticaltakeoffandlanding #race #racer #hybrid #hybridpowered #power #poweredlife #airtransport #airtransportation
