From the incredible Dolan Falls to the towering Devils Backbone, there is so much beauty in this remote section of Texas. I’ll be back mid April for an overnight rafting trip with @farwesttexasoutfitters. Along the way you can stop at scenic overlooks, spot wildlife like aoudad and javelina, explore Davis Mountains State Park, or end the drive near McDonald Observatory for an incredible star party. Follow @wanderlusttravelcouple for more bucketlist travel and National Park inspo 👩🏽‍🤝‍👨🏼 Welcome to Big Bend National Park in Texas 📍 The Balanced Rock hike is definitely in the list of top 3 hikes in Big Bend 😍 It’s only about a mile from the parking area to the rock so just under 2 miles in total. It’s 250ft of elevation in total. The trail is entirely flat and easy until you reach the last little bit where there’s a fun rock scramble to get to the top 🥾 If you use @alltrails and the actual hike is called Balanced Rock via Grapevine Hills Trail 🪨 The road to get here is a bit rough but any vehicle can make it to the trailhead really. It’s just a matter of going slow and giving yourself maybe an extra 45 minutes to make it down the road 🚐 Tip: Obviously from this video you can see that there’s a strong reason to go at night! Big Bend is an International Dark Sky Park and if the conditions are right the stars are INSANE out here! Truly makes the perfect backdrop for viewing Balanced Rock 🌌 Be sure to add this to your bucket list and save this post for future reference ⤵️ #BalancedRock #BigBendNationalPark #Texas #BigBend #NationalPark
