And it’s hard to think clearly when your system is stuck in fight or flight from the moment you wake up. 🌟 The clarity, intuition or grounded truth you’re looking for won’t come from more scrolling or more input. It comes from time away. The teen who respects screen time limits at 7 will manage Instagram more responsibly at 13+. Have a designated charging station outside of bedrooms where all devices go at least 30 minutes before bedtime. This helps teens develop healthy sleep habits while teaching them that technology has limits—a crucial skill for future social media use. ✅Tip 2: Teach basic privacy concepts through simple lessons like “We don’t share our address with strangers,” “Always ask a grown-up before sharing photos of yourself,” and “Personal information like our full name and school stays private.” ✅Tip 3: Teach digital citizenship with simple comparisons: “Being kind online is just like being kind at the playground.” This helps them understand that real-world social rules apply to digital spaces too. Is screen time the problem ? Or lack of parental control ? We aren’t here to judge. We are here to come together and create a safer space for our kids to grow into their bestest versions !!! Why is it that you think that some of us as parents are not able to control our kids screen usage ? Why is it that kids are allowed to consume RANDOM content that the parents have no idea off ?! Why is it that we allow them to play video games for so long and allow them access to games that WE KNOW are dangerous and bad for their brain. Is it fomo parents ? Is it tired and exhausted parents ? Or what is it ? As I mentioned there was a time my kids got screen 7 days a week. But that wasn’t working out for us at all. They were so dependent and desperate. We HAD TO STOP. And that led to crying, yelling and even more aggression for the first week or two. Typical traits of an addict of any form. But eventually when they knew we wouldn’t bend or budge and that this decision was final, they finally and eventually settled into their new normal. And now it’s just matter of fact. And everyone’s ok with it. Let’s be real, I am ADDICTED to my screen. If my phone goes for repairs I behave like a drug addict possibly would. So then HOW can I willingly let that happen to my kids at such a young age. It’s going to happen eventually, but this is definitely not the age. Playing sports or playing outdoors on their cycles or a park is NON NEGOTIABLE. Again, it’s very clear boundaries that we have set. Extremism of any form sucks in my opinion. It’s a digital world. But moderation is KEY. and we CANNOT expect our kids to moderate. We have to set clear boundaries for that. Do you agree with me ?? Or do you see this differently ? Let’s chat.
